I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

So can I get this Visa AND convert to a no fees AMEX without a hard pull? Spend enough on Costco to want the new card but would not mind a free Amex for those bonus offers that come once in a while. Threads like this always make me feel like I am leaving too much cashback on the table. I just do not pay as much attention....

Partially be outsourcing customer service to India. AmEx keeps it all American.
Citi has a lot of jobs in South Dakota where wages are smaller.

Where did you hear this? Quick googling didn't yield any results. This is going to be a bummer if it's the case.

My citi forward currently still gives me 5x points for restaurants and Amazon.

edit: found it http://frequentmiler.boardingarea...ward-card/

This is a major bummer! I suppose I can use Costco Visa for dining out and Sallie Mae master card for Amazon purchases.
dumb might as well throw that card in the trash now Frown

UR transfer to airline is limited to cardholders of Sapphire card... there is an annual fee.
Two corrections-

The AF for Sapphire Preferred is waived the first year
and
You can ALSO transfer UR to airlines with the Ink Plus card (which also has an AF, but that one is NOT waived first year)

Quote from tommyvelocity :
You can easily transfer between UR accounts... then transfer out of sapphire to your airline (6-7 airlines, 2-3 hotel chains)
Yup- that's why Chase Freedom along with the CSP is so powerful

Quote from tommyvelocity :
SPG amex is good card to have to because of how valuable the SPG points are (may change with the merger talk)... the card is not so great to rack up the SPG points (1 to 1) but you can transfer to 30 different airlines... 20k SPG points = 25k airlines miles (for most airlines).
Yeah, but no bonus categories at all other than booking at starwood properties so as you say it's tough to gain points at any worthwhile rate... so really it's best to grab the sign up bonuses (35k on the personal and business cards till end of month) which will give you 78k SPG after required spend... spend 2k more to get to 80 and (so you can max the transfer bonuses) then dump the cards before the annual fees come around.

For those who choose to get a repacement AMEX card to replace the Costco AMEX, make sure you get a sign up bonus. I have been receiving mail and online solicitations offering $100.

Why did it have to be Citi? Always have trouble with them. I suppose I will use it because of the upgraded cash back, but I would rather it be another bank. Citi doesn't follow the laws. Good thing now we have the CFPB for help.

Does Citi offer one-time-use credit card numbers for online purchases?

And what kind of account alerts can be set? Can I configure a text message for any transaction above a certain amount? Or for any card-not-present (eg. online) transaction?

Yes. It's officially called Virtual Account Numbers (VAN), and it's excellent. Unlike Discover's version where you don't have much control, with VAN, you can set any amount greater than $1, and you can set a time period between 2 and 12 months. For more information, you can check out the official page here [citi.com].

I use virtual credit card numbers regularly and have hundreds of pre-generated numbers ready to be used. I typically use between 3 and 12 virtual numbers per week.

A lot of people are comparing their rewards with the Costco cards but you have to make sure that your cash back and gas rewards are valid at wholesale warehouses. I know my old Amex card didn't give cash back at those places so that is why I got a Costco Amex.

Make sure your current Visa doesn't have cash back restrictions on wholesale warehouses in the fine print.

Thanks, looks interesting, although to get the 5% I have to open a direct deposit account or have some other stuff with them, instead I'd get a $25 yearly fee and only 3% at gas.

citi is making like no money with this costco thing.
For the 10 - 20% that use the card as a tool and pay in full each month the new Citi card is an okay deal; however for the rest of the suckers that carry a balance or pay late, blood sucking Citi will earn plenty. Most of the "Too Big To Fail" banks offer horrendous terms on credit cards. Citibank should have been left to die back in 2007 but rest assured they will fail again in the upcoming banking collapse.

Yes, you can setup various alerts, such as minimum payment due, statement, etc. You can also set up real time alert for any transaction exceeds a certain amount. But you cannot set up an alert for online tranx only.

Citi also provides virtual card number for one time or multiple times use.

how many additional cardholders do you think this can have? I know costco memberships are only 2 cards per. Wonder if you can go over that with this?
