work for you?
Probably not. Doing this negated my rebate last year. I'm pretty sure the IMEI on your account has to match the IMEI of your original phone for the duration of the rebate period. See my response below.
I took the XM SIM out of my LG X Charge and put it in an unlocked Verizon phone just to see if it would work. It did, but it permanently changed the IMEI in my XM account. I spent a long time working with customer service to get it fixed, but it still showed the wrong IMEI in my account, even after I put the SIM back in the original phone. In fact, one year later it still incorrectly shows the IMEI of the phone that I literally used for two minutes one year ago. Because the IMEI of my original phone did not match the IMEI on my account, I did not get the rebate. Also, because the account IMEI did not match my phone, they were unable to unlock my phone. I had to purchase a code on eBay. This would be an even bigger problem for an iPhone, since they are significantly more difficult to unlock. In that case you may be completely unable to unlock it even if you're technically eligible. I believe they set it up this way on purpose to force you to stay on their network. But they should do a better job of warning you rather than just inserting a little blurb into the promo language. Because of the risks involved I would recommend waiting until after you unlock your phone and get your rebate before swapping SIMs. |

You also won't get your $300 gift card until around end of November to mid-December.
May stack with existing promotion of $150 off on any iPhone when selecting 256GB model. (Price displayed is discounted price. Simply offering 256 GB model at same price as 64 GB The $150 off is an actual discount on the price of the phone at purchase time. You don't have to wait 4 or 5 months for that one.)
I have to port some google voice number I guess cuz I want to keep my T-Mobile plan?

That is my understanding, yes.
And I did have stupid charge of like $3 or $4 when I initially activated the phone. I believe you may have to activate the phone in order to sell it later, and remember to unlock the phone once paid off
Don't forget the sales tax (if they have any where you live) on the full $700.
Not sure what your margins would be on reselling these either because people know how unlikely it is that any phone purchased on EBAY is successful for BYOD.
.I also have heard some never got their $300 gift cards. And it is hard to 'prove' since I don't believe you get any email notifications that you are enrolled in that promotion.
I bought and unsuccessfully tried activating three different iPhones on EBAY to port over to Xfinity as BYOD. Two were Xfinity mobiile phones (One the guy bought and paid off but never unlocked. One was lost/stolen.) One was AT&T unlocked. But thee were problems that had something to do with incompatability of CDMA vs GSM. I gave up and ended up just buying one from Xfinity.
(I lucked out though because I did it on phone with an agent since I was not familiar with the $150 discount on the 256GB models. She was thinking the phone should discount $150 and I told her it sound ed like the listed price was with discount. Anyway, got my son the iPhone 8 Plus 256GB at $800, but she pushed through a $150 credit on the account, and it only cost me $706 after tax. That was a great deal.)

Thanks for the detailed information. What was that $150 credit for?

Where is the stackable promo? I don't seem to be able to find that one. It shows an extra 150 for the 256gb variant.
My wife did this. She uses data from Wi-Fi mostly so monthly bill is ~$16 plus the 0% iPhone payment. She loves it. Never used more than 1 gb yet.
No need for unlimited plan for most people

I have the exact same scenario as you and did just what you're thinking when they had the iPhone 7 Plus 256gb Project Red phone for $569. Once it's paid off you just call a number to get it unlocked. On this deal you would have to keep the service until you got the card but it's so cheap it won't break the bank. It's about the only way to get a cheap iPhone on T-Mobile as their deals absolutely suck.
