The JBL Studio 580 floorstanding loudspeaker offers professional-quality sound to the home experience. The Studio 580 features a 1" tweeter mounted on a glass-filled Bi-Radial horn and a pair of 6-1/2" PolyPlas cones. Offer valid while promotion last - Discombobulated
I have Polk monitor 70s as front. Have u heard those speakers? Do u think these are considerably better?
These will beat the Polk LSIM speakers in sound quality but not build quality. The monitor series from Polk are much lower in quality. I have the JBL 590s for my LCR and I love them everyday. The audio quality is superb. It takes a week to break in though.

just wondering...did the 580 or 590's really sell for at least $599 as stated in the website or do they just make it look like you are getting a nice deal?
I picked up the R-120SW a few months ago for the same price...tho the Klipsch is 12", this is 10"
Just bought this monday and got it yesterday. Shipping was really fast.
Watched "Scott Pilgrim vs the world" last night with this sub in a 2.1 config with a denon AVR-X2300W and 2 x JBL Studio 290's.
That movie has acoustic range and the subwoofer definitely adds a lot of punch, even with the 4 x 8" speakers to cover a good range of bass down to 60hz.
The 550P did an awesome job, especially at this price.

Thank you for your insight. I also have the JBL 290's and I am debating adding a sub. Like you said, the 290's do handle low end fairly well but at this price, I am seriously debating it. It looks like the 250p matches our speakers better? I've read less positive responses to the 250p's than the 550p though.
It is not the benchmark in any way. Just added that since that seems to be sought after by people here. My friend who is an audio guru has B&W towers (don't remember the exact model). He bought the 590s and have been very impressed. The compression drivers on these are very accurate. If you have some good music listen to them. I have listened to some vocals and acoustic music as well as movies and these speakers do well on both. They won't give you ear fatigue which is a good way to gauge the quality. It leaves me with a smile on my face and my heart even after a day of listening. That says something.
