Forget the haters! My wife and her aunt have something similar. If the performance is the same, It's a great deal for less tech-savy uses, like home study, or for media consumption. Windows 10 works just fine once you switch out of S mode. Streaming services work, Zoom works, light browsing works (seen the wife with 10 tabs open in Chrome and Edge just fine). They pay bills, do online shopping, write emails - all that stuff. The kids play Roblox and Minecraft. Wife hooks up to the TV to do her workouts. The specs are all low-end, but it is $150.

So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

I'm telling you guys. Avoid these lower end Lenovo laptops. Already purchased and returned two similar models. RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Even running basic tasks on Windows 10 is hard for these to handle, especially with only 4GB of RAM.

The two cables in the other post look the same, but since the picture/descriptions are swapped, it's hard to know which one to buy. I'll wait until the other poster updates us before buying one for myself and hopefully AliExpress will have processed the cancellation by then.

With my luck, the surest way to ensure you get the right cable first is for me to buy the other cable LMAO

Actually, my first impression is that the screen is functional, but clearly not a great screen because the viewing angle is very limited to where it looks good. Left or right to the side (not that much) and it gets really dim. Stand up and look at a downward angle and the black and whites invert. Straight on (perpendicular) and it looks OK. I actually think it looks clearest/sharpest at nearly a 45 degree angle with the top pointed away from you, but that is too much of an angle for me. But the price and other features meet my needs, so I'm OK with it. It isn't my main laptop...if it was, I'd spend more.
Thank You for the detailed feedback.

In fact here https://www.amazon.com/s?k=NBX000..._sb_noss_2
says k200 and k210 are compatible. Now lets keep our fingers crossed this is the right ribbon cable. Smilie

Just got one of these delivered the other day. Considering the price, I have no regrets. Seems to be about what I hoped for: a small, light, cheap laptop that can handle basic stuff like web browsing and document editing. I wanted something to take back and forth to work (most of my day is not spent in front a computer), and most of what I do for work is web based, with a bit of Libre Office. My little old Chromebook was serving in that role, and I'm keeping it, but this Ideapad is snappier and more capable all around, with a better keyboard.

I will definitely add 8gb RAM to this thing, and maybe throw in a bigger SSD at some point, but the puny 128gb drive is actually enough for my needs right now. The screen isn't too bad. If you see this thing again for a similar price, it might be worth considering if you need a basic machine to beat on, something for an elderly person who mainly uses Facebook and looks at funny cat videos, or a kid for school work. It's no gamer but it's a good deal for what it is.
My only complain is the battery life, I looped a 1080p video and seems like the battery can only last a little over 3 hrs! Anyone knows if there is a way to upgrade the battery? Maybe a bigger pack that use up the ssd space?... I guess since the screen is only 720p, I should loop a 720p video instead. May save battery life.

Honestly I really like this so far. Was hand delivered from a local store yesterday. I immediately opted out of S mode, updated the BIOS and ME firmware, slapped in another 4GB stick of RAM today, and then reformatted with fresh install of Windows 10 20H2. Much much snappier than the old Braswell based cheapo laptop I had laying around. Though I do find myself missing the 10-key pad a little. Definitely keeping my eye on you kind souls testing out the confusion over the SATA cable models for us and look forward to the results of your trials so I know what to get.

I feel the same. While I wouldn't want this as my primary computer, it's great as a secondary system or something for the kids to use for school....good enough to get things done but not so expensive that I'll be devastated if someone breaks it. I'm only willing to invest in upgrading the RAM because that's a very cheap upgrade that should have significant impact on usability. I'm only considering investing in adding the hard drive because I have extra drives lying around that's something I can re-use in another laptop or as an external drive when I'm done with this laptop and the incremental costs is just for the cable (somewhere between $10 and $20).

Got mine today, some thoughts:

Good
Overall build quality is nice. Plastic, yes, but nice textured surfaces
Keyboard is excellent, nice large keys, good travel
Thin, light weight
Unoffensively simple
$150, add an 8gb stick and this thing is a little rocket ship

Bad
Webcam
Webcam
Webcam - almost unusable
Panel - seems washed out to me, lacking contrast, saturation
Webcam - really why even bother putting one in this thing, i haven't bought a new laptop in 12 years so maybe this is how all budget laptop cams are. I would not even Zoom with this.

Tip, if you are trying to pop the case to upgrade, try a plastic knife and start at one of the back corners by the hinge. Once those pop, you can slide the plastic knife around and not damage the plastic case.

I thought I read previously that one of us was going to install a 16GB stick, since the configurator websites all indicate the addressable memory maxes out at 20GB (4+16) rather than the Lenovo claim of 12GB (4+8). I guess I need to scroll back a bit to see if I'm remembering that clearly or not.

Thanks!.... The 2nd link, then downselecting from "16GB (8GB x 2) - 2400MHz" to "8GB (8GB x 1) - 2400MHz" gives me a single 8GB stick for $26.99. Going in my cart now - my Ideapad is scheduled for delivery this afternoon.

Interesting side note - I was looking at some of the memory configuration sites ... both Crucial and Kingston claim this model supports up to 20GB RAM (4 + 16) rather than the 12GB (4 + 8) that Lenovo's own spec sheet claims. Does anyone want to be the guinea pig? If you've got a spare 16GB stick laying around that's compatible, want to slap that bad boy in and let us know what happens? Smilie
