Each package has 2 SIM cards: X1 and V1.
V1: activate in CDMA phone. It runs on Verizon network. My phone Moto E6 shows "Verizon SIM"
X1: activate in GSM phone: AT&T phone or Sprint phones that can work on the GSM network need to be unlocked per Ting GSM Android activation tip and trick.
So Ting GSM for sure does not run on Sprint or AT&T network. It runs on Tmobile network (When I send text to Email, email shows from Tmobile)
Also with X1 card it only activate " pay per use charge" $6 plan. If you want to activate (change) to Flex or other plan you need X3 SIM card.

...not any more. Many (most?) people are getting the newer package with the X3 SIM (T-Mobile with 5G), even though the order is for model number TRK-V1X1PACK30. (2/28/2021)

These are decent if you need a port number for something. It's kind of a pain to get port out info or cancel your line though.

"Ting Mobile is an American mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) owned by Dish Network. Originally established in February 2012 by Tucows, Ting provides cellular service in the United States using the T-Mobile and Verizon Communications networks."

Comes with 2 SIM cards (a T-mobile and a Verizon), so you choose which network you want to use based on which SIM card you use.

US Mobile is better price if you need port out number

$30 of service is marketing gimmick, it doesn't apply until 2nd month

If I want to use it for port out, do I need to pay extra to add service? Or would the $1 be enough to port out?

Also wondering how this works. The $30 credit can or can't be applied to the first month of use? One of the reviews states:
Quote :
The packaging shows, in fine print on the back, that the $30 credit is applied to the 2nd month's billing. This seemed misleading because it doesn't say that on the front where the big orange banner states "$30 credit". However, when I signed up, the $30 credit was applied immediately. Overall kind of confusing.

I'd love to know this as well as if these cards would be eligible for both the unlimited plans as well as the old tiered/buckets plans.

It's really a straightforward process. I've done it multiple times. Just sign-up and use one of the included SIM cards to port in your number, or request a new number. You can select the cheapest plan ($10/month + $5/1GB data) which would stretch out the $30 credit over 2 months. The $30 credit would show up under [Billing History] within an hour of successfully activating the SIM.
Signing up can sometimes be challenging since Ting's flaky website is wont to reject valid credit card information. You can try different browsers, including using incognito/inprivate mode, to see if it works. If it fails, you can call customer service to manually add the credit card information.

Once your account is successfully setup and SIM activated, you can get port out information under [Accounting Settings], or chat with customer service to get port out information.

No, no extra payment is needed. The $1 payment for the SIM kit is all that is needed. You would, however, have to add your credit card information when you sign up. Ting would simply test to make sure that the information is valid ($1credit, $1 debit).
