yes, it is.
i see one person saying the $30 covered the two months they were there.
maybe they used the 'pay as you go' plan.
Their prices are not very competitive so it would seem people are going to use them for porting and holding a number for a month or two.

The $30 credit is added to your account within 24 hours after activating. Ting is a postpaid carrier, so the $30 credit should apply to the first bill.

Can I just buy it and forget it about it for a few months? I remember those old Tmobile ones had a time limit to activate

I just did this last month. Got the credit in my account immediately (or within a day or so). Used this to get my number ported over from Ooma to Google Voice. I needed to port the number to a mobile number for Google Voice to port it over. Customer service was excellent in getting my number ported over from Ooma. I cancelled my account after ported my number to Google. Just got the bill for the 1/2 a month or so that I had the service, and my credit paid for the month. Still have some credit in my account.

Since it's postpaid service are Ting request SIN/credit check? Just choose a Set 5 Plan and it will apply credit right away?
