The speed bits are fast, but they can be monsters on your arms, drill, and lumber.

I'm not sure I know anyone still using regular flat spade bits. There's so many better types if bits that do a spade bits job, and they do it much better. But, there may be some sentimental need?
Either way, I will shed no tears when slotted screws, and spade bits fade from existence
Yes, but these are *Milwaukee*, and thus the finest spade bit available! Not only that, they are *high speed spade bits*, and every one knows the higher speed, the better holeāespecially the larger sizes! Jeez!
Ahhh yes. Sarcastic play on the indoctrination of "Team Bigotry" lol.
Every tool, has their tool, but no tool is as cool as that of the TOOL of The Reverend Maynard!
Lol.
Hey, I use some Milwaukee. But all of the Box Store brand drill/driver/alpha bits suuuuck. (Except for the Porter Cable forstner bits... I was used to paying more for one bit than the entire PC set costs. Those bits really surprised me. Lol.)
Plus, we all know that Hart is the best!!!!
Ya'know, I might grab some of the Diablo's to check out. I'm not a fan of Diablo (selling such soft carbide at those prices???) But they were only $20, so I figure I can test them, and if I don't like them, I can grind them into a punch, or turn them into a back scratcher for Bull Sharks.

Now about Hart tools, I've seen them, but I haven't sampled any yet. Too busy snagging clearance Hyper Tough tools!

It also looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to sharpen with a file (WoodOwl even sells a sharpening file to do the job). I did a cursory search through SD to see if they ever go on sale and couldn't find any historical evidence that they do. Has anyone ever seen these being on sale or clearance?

No problem... they are $$$ but they're freaking amazing! I've never seen them on sale.
I've experimented with sharpening them a few times, and your comment reminded me that last time I sharpened one that I was going to try to build a sharpening jig for them... I need to put that on my list for 2021 š
Be careful over-torquing them at ludicrous speed. Lol. If you hit a knot, you could literally be next to an š¦ flying after it launches you lol. I often set my hammer drill to its highest clutch setting just before the "drill" setting. So that way I can have a psychological safety blanket. Lol.

Lmao.. hahahaaaa! Hyper Tough FTW!!!!

I just seen your link, and didn't realize you got the overdrive bits. I use the tri-cut, and have a couple nail biters, and had yet to try the overdrive because I have those diameters already.
But I just now ordered that set because I didn't know they didn't have the self-feed tip.
I don't like self feed tips, and often have to break out a rotary tool and grind the threads off of them. Because they tend to feed too quickly, and will shred the space where they are if I'm using them to only go in a certain depth.
So thank you... I am super excited. Plus they have the better hex shank it appears so I can load then into and extension or an impact driver.
Now that you are hooked, focus on the sizes you use most. I bought one bit when I first tried them and fell in love so I bought a huge set after that. Ended up, I wasted money buying a set with a few sizes I almost never use.
Also, avoid the realllly long ones. (13in and up I think) if you need a long ship auger style bit. Just buy an extension shank from a lower quality steel like Irwin. That way if you torque the š© out of it , you'll only bend the $8 extension and not the $30 bit lol. And old logger i talk to gave me that tip.
š š THE MORE YOU KNOW!!! š š
Lol.
