Thumbs down! Why?
$899 is $100 cheaper than Apple's regular price. Am I wrong?
Thanks

I agree, why is this a thumb down? This is an 8-core whereas the micro center deal is a 7-core CPU. I dont get it?

Thumb downs are probably from Apple haters. I have this model and it's very good.

All M1 MacBook Air have 8 core CPU, the higher end version have 8 core GPU. This is the 7 core GPU version

I'm a PC guy, but I have always had a few apple products. I've owned many laptops. Learning curve to switch is a bit steep, but much easier if you find a few videos on switching from PC to Mac. Learn the shortcuts. I mainly use MS Office, which runs perfectly on the M1, but I also like to code a little and play a games. After two weeks, I was blow away by how much better this laptop is than any laptop I have ever owned (even when normalized against what was available at the time). The whole thing is just top notch quality, OS design is amazing, and the M1 is freaking amazing. I'm blown away by the battery life. I use it for 3-4 hours a day, and don't have to charge it for three days easy. No blue screens, no problems with updates (windows frequently gives me fits when it updates). Privacy is so much better on Apple, which is another bonus (assuming you don't download google crap and click the share information buttons). If you are looking for something amazing, and you have the money, I highly recommend if you keep in mind you have to learn a new OS (assuming your a PC person). I have the 8 gig version- runs perfectly. If you have an iPhone, the integration is also amazing. The price is more than fair for something this high of quality. There is no way you can find a PC in this price range with this level of quality and performance. M1 leapfrogged the competition.

Micro Center has it on sale for $850 and Best Buy had a sale not too long ago at the same price. I bought mine last Saturday and it is a very snappy laptop comparing to Windows counterpart.

tbh I have not seen a windows blue screen in the last 10 years. I don't even think windows blue screen is a thing in 2020 or 2021 unless you bought bad hardware.... Stick with decent windows laptop on the similar price range and you should find windows 10 running very problem-free. I don't even shut down my computer much.
I do like the Mac OS because it integrates really well with iphone, ipad, airpods and the icloud. But Windows being "unstable" is such a thing long long in the past. Or maybe it was bad hardware all along, especially with DIY builds by people who did not pay attention to statics or cheap prebuilts.

Blue screen is just a generic term for problems (yea, they don't actually blue screen very often now), it's actually boot problems that happen frequently on my PCs with updates. Dells, Lenovo's, acer. I've frequently had to do full restores when windows updates. All of them have had problems. Apple products have always had about 1/10 the OS problems as PCs for me. I do appreciate your experiences and thoughts. In my opinion, even at full price, the M1 laptops are an incredible value for performance.

Look up spinning pinwheel of death.
Mac OS isn't all the different from Windows. It has just as many problems and issues.
If you're a basic user that use Apple supplied apps, Mac OS is great. If you're trying to do anything else, it can be a nightmare.

Macs are just better than Windows laptops. I had a coworker commit suicide because they got blue screens of death back in 2019 all the time.
