Hello
Ordered and received this Kasa Outdoor smart plug for $19.99 for two units.
This the 2021 model released this spring and is almost identical to the KP400 outdoor plug. Per one of the FAQs, only difference is that it is a bit smaller than the KP400 (see pic)
I was able to get it to show up in Home Assistant with no problems.
Previous version (KP400) was a popular slick deal at $20 in March 2021

Thanks OP, these are worth the $20. I have the older model and use them daily without any issues.

It appears that this new version has covers that are attached to the device instead of being a separate piece that can be lost.

I have the older model, and no issues with it as well. The other improvement I like to see would be an angled plug replacing the current straight plug. That'd allow the weather box to close easier.

Yep, but really flimsy! Broke off within two minutes of opening the package and trying to access the plug (see pic)
Just submitted a review to Amazon on how flimsy it was.

So how weather-proof are they without the cover? Doesn't seem like that great a deal

Yes. This. The Wemo version has it, but at 2x the price.

Once you plug in lights or an extension cord, it's no longer a problem. The little rubber cover thingy is to protect the unused outlet or if nothing is plugged in.

The problem with the angled plug is that it blocks the 2nd plug point in a typical weather box, so it becomes unusable. Most of the newer weather boxes have "punch outs" so you can drop the thick cord down and keep the box closed and weather tight from the top.

Couldn't you just put the angled plug in the bottom socket?

Anyone have experience with the new Wyze plug that's cheaper than this? I think $17, with similar specs

Not really, the weather box prevents you from putting the angled plug into the bottom socket. I have older RF ones that are angled, and they could only be placed in the "top" socket.
