Well this price = wow it is now officially the day work from home and school is over.

This is decent price for 2018 right?

That said... if you're a teacher get this D*m webcam.

If somehow you don't already know why your laptop webcam stinks.

- This is usb so you can move it up down and all around and control what we see easier...and not up your nose and focused on your ceiling fan.

- this has auto focus so if you hold up a book, have it down on paper as you show math or art lessons we can see it not pixilated junk for a few minutes.

- this has a flip down cover in case you want to quickly be sure to cover video even if you're sure you hit video off.

- Logitech software all you to "zoom" in to crop out area you don't want to show, or other times do wide screen to show the more people or full classroom

No you can't really be replace a real camera and record lessons standing in front of a class with this and without separate mic etc.

This was just emergency classroom cam and mic until found better mic

Remember when these were $200 last year? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

When people really needed webcams last year this one was selling for over $200, now that everyone has what they need the price has dropped. Logitech ripped us off.
what? logitech's price has always been stable.

Pass.

Decent deal but it's not really a C920 because it doesn't have hardware H.264 encoding.

Logitech claims you don't need it anymore, but that's just their excuse for delivering you less functionality at the same price.

Fingers crossed that my circa 2014 C920 with HW H.264 keeps working.
why do you need the webcam to do 264 encoding? any current video card will do it easily. and does conferencing software even support webcam hardware 264 encoding?

Pretty good quality camera for video chats. Never really used the audio directly on it but I'm sure uts decent enough for most of what you would do.

Definitely not worth the MSRP but at this price I think its a decent value and will probably be hard pressed to find better for cheaper from a trusted brand.

Does anyone know if the mic on the webcam is of good quality? Trying to purchase a good webcam to use for the classroom, not sure if I can just go with the built-in mic here or if I'll need to purchase an additional dedicated mic. Will this mic pick up all the background noise/whispers in the classroom? Is it sensitive enough to pick up all voices if placed in the center of the classroom?
Most people say no. For me these mic are barely good enough for sitting in silence for 1 to 1 only foot from the screen.

Good widescreen and focus BUT this was just COVID made most not have any better options than this. Still not super great but for dozens of K-12 and univ classes were done with this cheap cam.

Many used 2 so can have another focus on the whiteboard or something that wasn't using zoom etc screen share.

Bad audio really makes it extra effort to learn.

We've had good results with clone junk $40 wireless lav headset combo. I don't have the brand handy but really any mic close to you will work best.

Most earbuds have horrible mic BUT you May find if you already have apple or Samsung Galaxy buds + work we'll enough and comfortable enough just with one in.

Test it out. Can do pretty professional even without OBS and rode etc fancy mic and ATEM mini etc

A lot of the cheaper Chinese no name or off brand webcams come with questionable drivers - you know the ones that pop up that yellow warning unsigned and unverified stuff. One actually tried to install a certificate lol. They sure are desperate to phone home. With Logitech you know this Made in China cam has gone thru extra scrutiny and will probably not spy on you.

I bought it last night and did some brief testing. Overall, it's a pretty good camera. Audio and video quality will be way better than laptop cameras. Frankly, I'd consider this camera to be the set standard for home or office use. Sure, my Brio that I bought for $100 last year is better, but that was a fluke and took 4 months to get. This camera will perform better than 80-90% of the people you have meetings with.

My only compliant is that I'm not super impressed with the auto focus. This is a problem on both this camera as well as a 5 year old 920 that I have in a remote office that I use. If I can figure that out, I'll be really happy.
