Good modem, got mine for $185 in FEB, I think. It does get warm so at least have it in open air or in a ventilated area.

The only significant difference is that this S33 has a 2.5Gbps LAN port, theoretically offering a higher speed feed to your router. But that's far-future future-proofing for most areas, and not worth considering in my opinion. I don't know of any cable carriers that offer that kind of speed, and you'd have to buy a capable router to make use of it.

My issue with the S33 is that my cable company hasn't certified it yet. Even though they absolutely will at some point, they wouldn't activate it today if I tried. If you think the future proofing is valuable to you, I'd still verify with your provider that they'll accept it.

Comcast will offer it soon. It's what the xb7 is for. They bumped up gig customer to 1.2 which only a 2.5 gig modem can reach. So technically it's already necessary for a lot of Comcast customers. Speeds of 2.5 are not that far away
