After their scummy business practice of bundling, never buying from Newegg again.
Decent price, but I am going to guess its because it was a highly demanded cpu many months ago and now not many people need overpriced cpus anymore so they probably have a huge supply they cant sell because people stopped buying them so are forced to drop prices.

Its only $30 off anyways. This should have been a $200-250 cpu anyways.
pretty sure he's talking about Newegg bundles up gpu with other overpriced crap that no one would ever buy

They're mad Newegg raises their prices due to supply and demand on various products the past year. Ya know. Capitalism. They wanted to make more money. For shame.

Capitalism is one thing, being shady with unnecessarily ridiculous price increases to take advantage of situations is another…

Newegg is now a Chinese company with horrendous turn over and vile culture.

Most awesome thing about capitalism since you brought it up and all is the right to choose purchasing from others who aren't trying to screw the customer.

Can't wait until Newegg changes their ways or is forced out of business.

the 5600x is a beast with great power draw, nice to see it onsale and the supply shortage eventually caught up
not sure what would compete in this pricerange since the wraith stock cooler is also solid

I have a 2700x. Is this worth the upgrade? I pretty much split 50/50 between gaming and productivity (photo/video/music production)

I will stick with my trusty AMD 3600 CPU that I purchased last year for $150. This 5600X at $270 is not worth the small increase in speed...

Heck, my 3600 is 9% faster than this 5600X in Fortnite, my favorite game!

5600X at $270=FAIL! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...4084vs4040

Oh, regarding NewEgg haters: I have saved over $15,000 over the years from NewEgg just from the rebates alone and they have treated me well on most occasions.

NewEgg haters = ignorance
Don't use userbenchmark for anything. Not saying this is worth it but the 3600 beats this chip in exactly 0% of situations.

I think it is worth the upgrade - but can also depends if you are getting other components as well. I ended upgrading to 5600x from 2700x because I found that it was bottlenecking my 3070.

Also, the resell value of 2700x was decent at the time as well.

It's a lot faster single core to the point that it is probably also faster multi core. What GPU are you using and what resolution do you play at? Those two things will tell you if you are really being bottlenecked by the 2700x during gaming. I would think productivity wouldn't matter really since the 2 extra cores on the 2700x will take up most of the slack.

Absolutely not the ONLY thing that's made me avoid buying most any computer component from them for a long time.

It's actually how they have always treated CPUs - they are the one of, if not the only, major online seller who makes you deal with any CPU issues instantly with the manufacturer. You cannot return it. You can't exchange it. If it's cracked in half the second you opened the box, you need to call the maker.

Terrible customer service.

I have a 3060 but will likely flip it into a 3070.

I'd wait until the next refresh... But then again, I'm still running along just fine with my ancient 4930k - which is now running awesome with my new 3060Ti. It really depends how hard you're pushing it. Your 8 cores should still be good for productivity.
I figure I've waited this long, I'll sit tight a bit longer to see when AMD releases their next socket before making the jump.

How often, when you're doing productivity stuff, are you watching a progress meter? If it happens frequently, and for more than a few sections, it's probably worth the upgrade. You're losing two cores, but gaining probably 25-30% overall speed in multi-threaded and 50% on single threaded tasks. If you're using CPU encoding for video (and you should be for best quality), the speed and efficiency will likely help more than the extra cores.

Oh, and it will run on about 2/3 the power when fully loaded (~40W continuous / 55W at peak).

I dont think this is all that "slick" of a deal after spending $120 on my 2600 two years ago. I also don't think you will see AMD back at those prices because they're now outperforming Intel and it looks like motherboard companies are putting in R&D effort to help stabilize the platform.

A majority of tech reviewers all loved Intel until 2nd/3rd gen AM4 rolled out. And now they performance is comparable to Intel and cost is similar you won't see the prices that were previous generations AM4

In case you're looking to upgrade from a 1600/2600, those chips are still selling for $75-125 on the 'bay, so consider that value if you're looking at an upgrade. Waiting 3-5 months for the 5600 to drop into $220-230 territory may also be time enough for the older chips to lose a similar amount of value, so your out of pocket net may not be much different even if the new CPU price comes down.

Also, if you have a B450 board and want to do a drop-in replacement (like me), make sure your motherboard mfr has made new firmware for your chipset and get the latest drivers.
I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 1400

I have this motherboard: https://www.asus.com/motherboards...Desk_BIOS/

Does it look like it has the right firmware available for me to run this 5600x?
