Just a bit warning that Nvidia pushed Google TV interface which is heavy on ads. Killed the experience.
Roku doesn't even have Spectrum. Blame Spectrum being greedy.

The Pro does gaming better and has USB ports for external HDDs.
Is it worth holding out and buying the Pro version for $199? Any big differences?

$129 price point has been lowest since Black Friday 2020. Have a few of these in the house and has been performing well with no issues. Apple TV has been added recently to Android TV among other apps. Wished it had Spectrum TV app.

Can this be used as a Plex server?

No. Need the Pro for that.

I think Pro provides hw 4k upscaling too. For those who like that feature

I would get the pro version if you need to have any apps running in the background. If not, then this one is good for you. Some IPTV services need a secondary app running in the background. If that's the case for you, go with the Pro.

If you plan on needing USB ports or making it a Plex Media server than ya go Pro. but if its mainly a really good streamer then you should be good with this.

Fair warning tho, this one only comes with a SD card slot, and my Shield used up space pretty quick on just apps

Love my Pro for 4K UHD remux playback using Plex. On my secondary TVs I have a few Fire stick 4Ks and an old Chromecast that just does FHD. Personally I only feel the need for top of the line or bottom of the barrel and don't see why someone would buy an "almost Pro" device like the tube, but YMMV

I tried the tube and the pro is def noticeably better. I have 2 pros and think it's worth the extra $60 bucks. You are prob going to have this thing for the next 5 years + so that $60 really becomes negligible especially for the added benefits
