In my experience, better to buy into a platform late when things are stable instead of being a guinea pig testing out the new stuff for a year or two. Just my 2c.
Regardless, since this has nothing to do with what's better, I disagree with waiting unless you're truly in no rush.
If you can wait, do it. It is literally always better to wait, there is no exception. But we have no idea how anything in the future is going to perform, regardless of "past leaks". We also have no idea about supply. Or bugs. Or literally anything.
When on the other hand you have one of the best all around processors on the market for over $100 off MSRP. I wouldn't hesitate recommending a new AM4 build with this.

In terms of performance, one of the most reliable leakers in the industry leaked Alder Lake performance for cinebench before Intel did, and the numbers match up. Other leakers have confirmed similar performance. If you look at Rocket Lakes launch, the same leakers were saying it wouldnt be good, so there is credibility there.
As far as DDR5, at LAUNCH it will be better because DDR5 can read and write simultaneously and has other benefits that you cant compare with just the 'speed' number, but even so Amazon already had one listing DDR5 teamgroup 4,800mhz 2x16GB $310, it sold out instantly. Look at PCpartpicker, similar spec'd DDR4 will cost you $400+
And if we are talking about stability issues, how long did it take AMD to 'fix' the very common USB issues plaguing Zen 3? 6 months? And people still have issues. Im sure Alder Lake will have some quirk of its own, but historically Intel has been the far more stable and reliable platform, hence why you see stuff like NASA favoring Intel Xeons despite being worse performance over Epyc.

If this made it a good buy then there are few thousand items good buy.
The PayPal/Mastercard/Amex coupons get frontpage all the time, don't see how this is different pointing out a specific product.

I anyway got to hold out for the case and mb and if amazon drops it by $25 more I'm returning just to prove my point to B&H for not matching the current retail price.
I hope Alder Lake is as good as they say, that would be great. The 5900x is a great CPU right now, and given how hard it's been to source parts (and that we're heading into a second winter of Covid with another surge already happening), it's hard to know how easy it's going to be to source anything. This is an aggressive deal on one of AMD's best chips, and the 2nd fastest chip on the market today.
