Samsung makes about 10 different 70" TVs. A few are better than this and a bunch are worse. This is a great set for the price.
Lol I'm not sure you're aware of how ironic this statement is (the Vast majority of reviewers/guides praise this model). Hisense is actually swinging for the fences with this offering to gain more market share over the likes of Samsung/Sony/lg who have all faltered in recent years for their tech offerings per price point. In other words this set is a steal for sub 1k compared to a Samsung QN90A for similar or even better performance in some areas.

Same price at Amazon, plus 10% back if you use an Amazon card.

I return Hisense U8G 65" for a TCL 646 75"... I really regret doing so. the wife and kids love that it is bigger and good, but I can NOT since the picture is X10 better because of the color / black & white /clarity / brightness sound on the U8G, I really believe it as good as an OLED

Thanks for posting this, as I was on the fence with these two models

Does anyone think buying a ext warranty for this tv is worth it? Please and thank you.

Did some research on Hisense and found this article.

Those buying this may want to consider buying an extended warranty to extend the included 1 year warranty. Would suck to lose 1k if it breaks after a year.
if one uses Amazon Prime Card to get extra 10% Visa also extends your warranty for one more year from end of Hisense warranty, food for thought at least

This article was dated March 2019....almost 3 years ago. There's been plenty of time for Hisense to improve their product if they did have any issues.

I didn't know that, where can I find the details about the extra 1 year warranty?

What does that 2nd year through Visa cover?

EDIT: found part of it
"Extended Warranty Protection
Your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card extends the time period for the U.S. manufacturer's warranty by an additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less.³"

https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=16070413011

More of an explanation about the extended warranty. Seems like it should cover a TV bought with a prime card.

Not exactly. Last years model of this TV (the H9G) had an issue with Red ghosting on every set and Hisense never fixed it. The U8G doesn't seem to have that particular issue, but their long term reliability/support is pretty questionable. For the price, the PQ is great...but I wouldn't buy it without a warranty.

I would with one of these lower cost brands, and/or use a card that adds a year or 2.
