I'm currently using the 2TB version in my PS5, and it works like a charm.

I bought this Samsung drive for the PS5 as well. After doing a lot of research, there are a ton of options between $10-20. Sabrent recently released a PS5 heatsink cover that works for most SSDs in the M.2 slot and it replaces the factory SSD cover which is pretty handy. It seems to preform fairly well based on a lot of youtube reviews and the one I ended up purchasing since its a very large heatsink compared to all the other heatsinks on the market.

Sabrent M.2 NVMe PS5 heatsink (SB-PSHS) - ~$20

MHQJRH NVMe Heatsinks for M.2 2280mm - ~ $11-14

Another popular option is the MHQJRH heatsink at Amazon, but can be found under other rebranded names. It's another option that is cheaper at around $11-14 but to get the most use of out it, you'll need to keep the PS5 SSD cover off to get proper airflow. While people may say Sony recommends keeping the cover on for negative air pressure, for the SSD itself, temperatures are far better with the cover off.

See more details in this temperature review guide for PS5 SSD upgrade:

Hope that info help you and others!

Wonder if we'll see SN850 deals pop up at similar price points.

Is that drive better than the post-FW update 980 Pro?

At this kind of speed, price and preference are the deciding factors, to me.

I got a 2 TB SN850 from Newegg for $289 shipped via an SD posted not long ago, so it is definitely possible that the deal will happen again!

EDIT: Here is the post where the $290 2TB SN850 was posted, it was using a $50 coupon along with a sale price, so the chances aren't *great*… but there is still a chance at least: https://slickdeals.net/f/15281785-newegg-15-off-max-50-off-from-gpay-unique-promo-code-ymmv?v=1&p=149693263#post149693263

The 1tb sn850 got considerably slower over time in my PS5. Sammy are the most consistent performing imho, but the move to tlc made it not worth the premium.
Strange. Any idea what's causing it? Some folks at r/buildapcsales commented that it tends to run a bit on the hot side without a heatsink.
