Pro Tip: The installation should be fairly hidden, other than the antenna that is mostly hidden behind the rear view mirror. Install it in her car before Christmas then just give her the remotes on Christmas morning, it will be more exciting than a pile of boxes. Speaking from experience Frown

I just purchased this. Installation is included at this price. You'll be able to set up your appointment after your order. It will list the T-Harness and Installation as being Free.

A calendar comes up and you can select the date and time that works best for you. It just shows you the earliest available date after you've added it to your cart.

Does the open the trunk feature work when the car by default has no remote unlock for the trunk?

Sad. Doesn't work. Right in the product description with this link, it says installation required. I'm in Wisconsin
I'm in Wisconsin and it worked. I opened a new browser page from the link and added the starter and the other items come automatically after add to cart.

Just a word of warning on these things. I had one installed on the van a few years ago and only used it a couple of times. A couple weeks ago the car wouldn't start and had lots of issues. The dealer replaced the battery because it was old but the car still had issues. It didn't start working until they took out this remote start. Then they found 20 codes that took three days of debug to figure out it's probably the ECU shorted. The van is still at the dealership as we wait for the part to arrive with the long shipping times. The cost so far is $2,000 and Rising. The technician believes the remote start caused this issue but I can't say for sure. The only reason I mention it is because another friend with a remote start had the same problem with random doors not working and locks not working. Theirs was fixed when it was removed. So now I am left to wonder if this thing I paid a few hundred bucks for a few years ago is now costing me thousands of dollars today.

Are you saying that the codes weren't there before he took it out because he should've checked to see if there were any codes when you brought it in .

I'm not sure if the codes were there in the beginning or not because they told me once they removed the remote start the car could finally start but it still had a bunch of codes. They are still guessing it is a shorted ECU. When we told the story to another friend they said they had very similar problems with their remote start. Their car would start but they had issues with Windows not going down and the power doors not working. When they took out their remote start by themselves everything worked again. I don't even know if the remote start was my issue I just thought to let people know my story and they can do further research to see if this it's a known issue. It just seems coincidental that myself and a friend had similar type issues.

Yes. goto the page and on top where it says

Let's make sure it fits your car

And fill it out with your year and model. Make sure your on a desktop / laptop or have your phone on the full site and not the mobile site to order

I only questioned it because the first thing any mechanic would do is to check for any codes. Otherwise he would be just guessing and you said he seen the codes after he uninstalled it. Don't know how that would happen if the car was shut off and the battery disconnected like it should be anytime you would on electrical components in a car.

Speaking more generally, I've certainly been privy to situations where Vendor A provides an interface and specs, and Vendor B follows those specs and Vendor A's product still gets borked. Lots of reasons for that, and Vendor B is perpetually having to improve their product especially when their business model involves constantly having to deal with multiple Vendor A's. A lot of times it is installation-related but could be anything. It's certainly worth mentioning, even if for the sole reason that people should be aware that anytime they introduce an "upgrade" they might run into issues, and when dealing with two different companies you might have some finger-pointing going on!
In your case, if this is something that would generally be covered under some warranty but they are saying it is voided because it is Compustar's fault, then the burden should be on the dealer to prove that.

I've always wanted one of these things. What does Smartphone Compatibility - Capable mean? What do I need to use an app for this?

Just popping by to say that I bought this in late 2019 and had it installed in early 2020 on my 2015 Toyota Highlander. Works well. I'm satisfied for the price. I do with Toyota would allow takeover so that it wouldn't shut off as soon as we open the car door, but that's Toyota's issue. Just got to hop in and start it again.

Hard to compare since Viper doesn't seem too forthcoming with details like range on the fob. I'm no expert and I did enjoy my 4806V (my first remote start), but I'd say Compustar wins for me.

DS4+ Pros:
Free smartphone control (albeit bluetooth and very short range)
Smaller FOB (great if you are having to carry OEM+remote start fob)

DS4+ Cons:
Harness and some other items that are possibly required for installations not included (I don't think)
1-way fob (no feedback on fob when car successfully starts/stops)
Only 1 fob (Compustar comes with 2)
Can't find the Viper-officially-stated fob range but reviews say it is abysmal, whereas Compustar can be "3000ft"
Less functionality and customization available with one-button fob
Last time I saw Viper + free installation from Best Buy was 2019
I hate to keep going back to installation but if you are pursuing a BB install, I'm not totally sure that the techs are cross-trained very well. Perhaps one of the remote-start experts in this thread can chime in on that and other points.Box says "free near range smartphone control" and I'd hope for Viper's revenue sake that they have longer-range paid options as well.

If you are looking at DIY installation, I think there's better options than either of these.
Possibly 20 to 15 ft due to your current remote.

It charged me an extra $150 for an Audit harness connectivity. You also will need a second key if you own an Audi.

Had to order this 3 times to add the installation which gave me Dec 2nd as earliest in my area.

I wonder how long this will be on sale for?

I'm thinking about getting it for my Spark and my GFs Rav4. Adding 2 to the cart doesnt give free installation or installation accessories to the 2nd one. I'm guessing it would if I checked out separately though.

A real Slickdeal is for Ford owners of 2011-2018 F150, 2011-2018 Explore and Edge. Your vehicle has remote start already. You need a new 4 or 5 button key with fob and "enable remote start" via the computer. Cost me $50 for a new key copied to my original and I programed the rest myself. Google "Ford remote start Forscan" for your model.
