Pro Tip: The installation should be fairly hidden, other than the antenna that is mostly hidden behind the rear view mirror. Install it in her car before Christmas then just give her the remotes on Christmas morning, it will be more exciting than a pile of boxes. Speaking from experience Frown

I just purchased this. Installation is included at this price. You'll be able to set up your appointment after your order. It will list the T-Harness and Installation as being Free.

A calendar comes up and you can select the date and time that works best for you. It just shows you the earliest available date after you've added it to your cart.

Are you saying that the codes weren't there before he took it out because he should've checked to see if there were any codes when you brought it in .
That is a good point. I am not sure what order they did things in and will find out.

Speaking more generally, I've certainly been privy to situations where Vendor A provides an interface and specs, and Vendor B follows those specs and Vendor A's product still gets borked. Lots of reasons for that, and Vendor B is perpetually having to improve their product especially when their business model involves constantly having to deal with multiple Vendor A's. A lot of times it is installation-related but could be anything. It's certainly worth mentioning, even if for the sole reason that people should be aware that anytime they introduce an "upgrade" they might run into issues, and when dealing with two different companies you might have some finger-pointing going on!
In your case, if this is something that would generally be covered under some warranty but they are saying it is voided because it is Compustar's fault, then the burden should be on the dealer to prove that.
I asked the Dealer if they were sure and if I could file a warranty claim against compustar. They just said they believed it "could" have caused it. I am not going to file a warranty claim. It could be like you said that it wasn't installed properly. This thing was installed a few years ago too. I didn't even think this remote start had anything to do with my issue until a friend said they had similar issues with parts of the car not working that started working after they removed the remote start. I am just mentioning this to people that if they do develop issues it might be related to one of these. I just searched to see if anyone else had my issues and just learned about something called "valet mode" so for all I know it got into some weird mode when the battery got low. Part of the reason I am posting to is to see if anyone else ever had similar issues. I am still not sure if this is the root cause and only going off what the dealer said. The dealer might just be trying to get more money from me too. I don't even know if putting in a new ECU will fix my problem. I hope so because the cost keeps rising.

It looks like my total tech membership drops this to $149. Seems like a steal at that price.

I wonder how long this will be on sale for?

I'm thinking about getting it for my Spark and my GFs Rav4. Adding 2 to the cart doesnt give free installation or installation accessories to the 2nd one. I'm guessing it would if I checked out separately though.
Make 2 separate orders. That way you can give one to your GF that way nothing will get confused as to which t harness she needs on her Rav

For whatever reason my truck didn't have the door lock/unlock fobs when I bought it. Do they need a working fob to program the foba in this kit or no?

Does not give an option to book an appointment. It is asking to add install for 149. Any suggestion?
I just went back to BestBuy.com and was able to add the item to my cart and it showed the $149.99 installation being crossed out and listed as FREE in bold. Maybe try a different browser. The deal is still working for me. If I could include an image with reply I would.

Its 200 a year, renews yearly. I just did this through the thread as I wanted to get two as gifts. Heres what I did:

Add TT to your cart and purchase. You will get confirmation you bought the item and will get a digital delivery, it takes like 20 mins to actually apply to your account.

Add the item to your cart, you will see a TT discount of $110 as well as the other discount. If you add two to the cart and try and buy, the discount off of the two will only go to like $113 off. If you want to buy more than one, you need to do separate orders to get the discount.

On the checkout screen theres an option that says 'Special offers available'. I tried doing that a few times and adding the free install but kept getting an error. Instead I went to schedule an install, entered car info and put in a date. This added what I needed automatically, and I can always change the date later if need be.

Worked out to saving ~$800 on the two; between the discount, the TT discount and the free install. Honestly, even if you want the one getting the TT might be worth it. You get the full year for $90, which includes free applecare/bestbuy protection, free two day shipping, other discounts on items. Great holiday gift at 150 with free install, 269 was a bit prohibitive but this worked out great!

(Also I know BB did a PS5 event for TT members in the past to get first dibs, may do something like that again in the future...i hope anyway)

Do the power locks work? If they do then you should be able to use the compustar remote to lock and unlock the car.

You could always call your local BB and ask to talk to the AUTOTECH to make sure.

Yeah everything works, just dude lost the fobs I guess. I actually bought new fobs and have AlfaOBD where I could program them but I need an RF system password and every dealer I called has been clueless in how to give it to me. 😐

A real Slickdeal is for Ford owners of 2011-2018 F150, 2011-2018 Explore and Edge. Your vehicle has remote start already. You need a new 4 or 5 button key with fob and "enable remote start" via the computer. Cost me $50 for a new key copied to my original and I programed the rest myself. Google "Ford remote start Forscan" for your model.
Same thing for my Dodge BUT you don't have the antenna that extends range so the remote start range is much less. I'm also considering this because in addition to 3/4 mile range I really want the 2 way function so if I can't physically see the vehicle I still know it started.

Had this Compustar in my kids SUV worked perfect for a few years till she recently picked up a newer car....i did the Fortin Evo-All plus T-harness with The Mobile app Carlink CL6 adapter All myself for $225 with 1 yr mobile service included Took a few hrs BUT it is amazing .... the new T-harnesses make it so much easier to install at home NOT for all to do but cool anyways

I was heavily considering the BB Compustar again for her new car BUT didn't like the idea of lugging the factory remote plus new remote together.

Still the BB team did a great job a few yrs ago!! on a non T-Harness install back then.

They can program her original remote also but it won't have the range that the compustar remote will have.

Then I don't see why it won't work .They just tap into your power lock system.
