Not necessarily. Read/write speeds will deteriorate over time because it is QLC. These drives probably only good for backup drives using compatible enclosures that can bust out high speeds on USB-C
Can you provide sources for those assertions?

It's a QLC drive.

Granted, it's by far the best QLC drive on the market, and Intel is really good at putting lipstick on the QLC pig so that you won't notice the QLC downsides most of the time. But at the end of the day, it's still a QLC drive.

It looks like you really like saying "QLC" 😁

Can I add this to a 920+ Synology? What would this do for my Nas?

Not the cutting edge but good at typical, mundane tasks.

Anyone know if the Crucial P5 M2 2280 is still TLC?

There were some suggestions they had switch and baited recently, but not sure.

Seems to be a P2 (not P5) issue(?):

I only see the QLC and MLC drives today. Are there still better drives being made?

I'm building a workstation for high end video editing and composting. Very often working with multicam timelines so the need for high sustained read and write speeds is a priority. Using a hyper m.2 x16 card (4 drives), what would be the best (yet most affordable) drives for that type of situation?

There are MLC, TLC , and lastly QLC nand chip. If you want the best , go with MLC, such as Samsung 970 PRO

My understanding is Samsung refers to all its devices as MLC - historically, MLC just meant 2 bit per cell, then TLC came along, it was three per cell, Samsung went to three per cell but kept calling it MLC. This is technically correct, since M stands for multi, but it's also somewhat misleading, because some still think Samsung is using two bits per cell, and my understanding is they are not.
