They can be associated to dusk and dawn so that your outdoor lights turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn.
These can also be grouped so that you can group and turn off all the lights upstairs for example.
Home assistant must be set-up on some type of PC typically a raspberry pi for starters. You can access the interface through and app or by visiting the local ip address. Home assistant is not beginner friendly and is a large time commitment with endless possibilities. These switches can be used locally through home assistant

Look into WebCore for SmartThings. I have several of these switches scattered throughout the house. I use a motion sensor in my office to turn on this switch if it sees motion between set times M-F. If there is no motion detected for 12 minutes, the light turns off. Been working flawlessly for well over a year (work from home life).

I have 9 of these in my house that are liked to Alexa. Had to reset them once in 5 years not including when we moved and I reinstalled them in the new house. Kasa brand just works!

Look up reddit, tp link dissolved kasa for the UK and the Asian markets in favor of their other product Tapo. Rumor is that they're offloading all inventory before breaking the news in the US market
also why is that Amazon Basics not competing against FEIT, Kasa price point?
Nah. Doesnt even require a ground. I installed mine without a ground and its working just fine.
