No name?!? What are you talking about? It says right there Asus the famous electronics… wait a minute.
Well for starters D2 doesn't mean anything. Nobody will test it, and even if they do and it is D2, who knows if it's properly heat treated. Even if it is properly heat treated D2, it likes to rust and most people can't sharpen well so : /
I'd prefer to recommend entry level users spend $25-$35 on a name brand knife with a reliable warranty and good reviews that's easy to sharpen over some generic Chinese mystery blade emblazoned with "D2". Maybe something like a Kabar Dozier in AUS8 or an Ontario Rat 2 in AUS8 (or D2 for $12 more).
There's also a double action lightning OTF for $30 that's lots of fun to use and mess around with. Generic Chinese blades are a dime a dozen. Blah.

D2 takes me always forever to sharpen. But it's well worth it because of the hardness of the steel that stays sharp considerably longer than cheaper steel.
I'm in for one, and excited to try it out. A couple decent brands in this price range that offer D2 are Ganzo and Petrified Fish. That'll be my point of comparison at this price point.

Like what? Specific names please
Ganzo Firebird D2 search on the e bay - I'm sure there's more, but just my two cents
