No. 7000 will be LGA so the pins will move from the CPU to the motherboard socket. Will be new AM5 socket. Confirmed from the CEO at CES '22 in January

This is still a good processor for a general Desktop / Server processor.

But the 5800X3D has largely replaced it for gaming.

Ryzen 5800X3D confirmed what was already known which is that the Zen architecture is capable of insane performance but it is cache / memory bandwidth constrained.

X570 won't support Zen 4 (7000 series).

The lowest I saw is $369.99 from Micro Center. This one is still not bad. Smilie

Agreed, I would go with Micro Center but it would take 4 gallons of gasoline round trip for me. So pretty much a wash.

So, for general desktop use, is the 5800x3D a better buy? I play games, run a PLEX server, general web browsing and watching movies. When retired, I'll likely use the mobo and processor as a home automation or make a home arcade console and emulate xbox and nintendo games.

If you're just replacing the CPU and don't use bitlocker, then you shouldn't have to reinstall Win 10.

Don't forget the submit a build $25 off coupon, when you submit the details and pictures of your build. That will more than make up for the gas!

I got a 5900x for $245 at Micro Center with that!

Probably with the $50 off coupon they usually have floating around and maybe the purchase of a mobo discount too.
