Thanks for the link. If you actually watch the Chinese video that the article references the new controller Samsung switched to is significantly faster than the old for the first 115G written in a sustained burst, up to 1GB/s faster in fact. It's only after 115G where the new controller is slower. I can't think of many workloads that write 115GB in a single sustained write. I can think of a lot of workloads that write less than 115GB though and those run much faster. Also, the new controller they switched to is the one they use in their 980 pro, so this doesn't look like some kind of cost-reduction switcharoo.

lr;dr - The new controller Samsung switched to on latest shipments is actually preferable to the old controller.

If it was any place other than Newegg I'd be jumping on this, but I just can't take dealing with them. Last year, after huge hassles with a return, I said 'never again'. Sticking to it.

Can't say I truly "regret" purchasing the 1TB version of this (several months ago - and it's been great) for only a few $ less than this, but it is good to see storage prices moving in the right direction for a change…

Although I do have to wonder if they're still using the inferior/slower controller they sort of secretly switched to last year. I haven't seen an update since this was published.

Yes depends on location, but here in expensive CA, the difference for me compared to the amazon prime card with 5% cashback vs 2% cashback from my other credit card, it was basically a wash. Good deal never-the-less and as much as I don't like buying from amazon, I currently it's better to buy from them than newegg given the recent newegg fiasco.

Actually from Amazon or a 3rd party seller? I bought last week also, but at $220 (I was impatient)
Actually from Amazon. The deal was only available for like 10 minutes before jumping back up to $220.

I ordered 2 of them, will be using them on a asus PCI NVMe card. One of the best Gen 3, the only one better is Seagate. For the price is a no brainer.
