Highly recommend these.

I got a set of the black ones about 6 months ago and they have been problem-free. I work in IT and these have a surprising number of advanced features - much more than you get from the competitors.

I've used many other mesh systems including Velop, Orbi, Eero, and Google wifi. None of them can compare to the speeds and reliability that I've seen from the XT8's. Picking up another set for my parents house!

Are you using wired or wireless back haul? Mine intermittently loses connectivity with wireless backhaul when running newer firmware versions. This happens even with strong signal and even with the second unit in the same room. It works perfectly fine if with wireless backhaul if I downgrade to an older firmware.

Got those 6 months ago, best buy gives you a 10% discount on a new router if you return an used one in store. Not sure if it will work, but you could get it price matched and apply the extra 10% off.

Best feature is the integrated security software. Which is free forever, compared to other manufacturers which let you pay after one year of free trial

I'm running wireless backhaul and have had no issues. Been running the latest firmware since about a week after release and there have been no drops. I actually use the wired ports on the node to connect a desk phone and my docking station for work and haven't seen any drops. The velop system I used prior constantly had the phone disconnecting and reconnecting.

Thanks for replying. I was using a wired connection on the node also when testing just to rule that out and was seeing the sporadic drops. I haven't tried the latest firmware so will try that out see if it performs any better for me.

If you set up via wired backhaul can you use the second 5ghz band for user use or is it only for backhaul? Or is it better to save the money and get the dual band that's also on sale?

I finally tried a Zenwifi system after trying several other solutions and it's easily the best. Trouble free and perfect performance. Two units serves a 3400sf house perfectly with no dead spots.

I bought these 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. All my wifi problems from the past are gone. No more dead spots in my house or on my property for that matter. Don't hesitate just buy them...

What OS do they run and do they offer some firewall features?

Googled it, but nothing good enough

Let's not forget that Asus has AI mesh on many of their older routers. Meaning that older ac router can join your mesh in less important areas like your garage. Can really expand out the mesh on the cheap.

I have had these for 5-6 months. I haven't had any real issues with them except the speeds I am getting from them is less than Deco X90 (which I returned because of the subscription nonsense). I am getting 900mbps in wired connections but only 500-600mpbs on wireless. I was getting 700-750mbps on Deco. I tried different settings but never got the same Wi-Fi speed as Deco.

Asus routers including mesh router systems tend to have issues with Verizon fios for some reason, a lot of people on the SNB forums report the same. You may need to put a gigabit switch between your ONT and the router to achieve gigabit speeds. Sounds wonky but worked for some people

Amazing performance. Pretty simple setup with a nice mobile app. Glad I upgraded. They were worth it at full price.
