The battery is meh.
The wifi connection is not so great.
Pixel cameras are no longer wow.
The tensor chip overheats easily.
I didn't expect the 6a to be better than my s21, but I expected it to be at least on par. For me, it was more to get my feet wet with the Google hardware ecosystem (was planning on a pixel 7 pro). To be fair, I haven't fully switched over, but the few hours I spent with it left me underwhelmed.
Either way, it's a mid range phone so so long as people go into it eyes open then all good.

Then, I solved the issues, sort of...
1.) Turned off 5G - huge battery savings and connectivity stability. I don't watch a lot of content nor play games outside of the house so LTE is fine for me.
2.) Switched to Google Fi. Yes, I know it's the same as T-Mobile, but it has been significantly more stable for some reason.
3.) Went on vacation to various places with WiFi, all probably using WiFi 5 - zero dropped connections in 3 weeks and 5 different networks.
Basically, this is the best LTE and wi-fi 5 phone in existence, except it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be a flagship. For $450, the Pixel 6a is worth the price, but the P6 and P6 Pro aren't. I like the size of the 6a better also. For $150 after trading in my 3a (originally paid under $300), it's a steal, especially with the Buds-A.
Link to a better 22 Android phone at this price range?
Fingerprint scanner seems placebo if reports here + update are any indication. If you watched YT reviews, name a better 22 5G 'Droid at $400,for those of us that don't give a rat's ass about novelty of wireless charging.
In my book, YT reviewers want Google to be like Apple on Android, so they are all crazy about this phone, saying like a smaller version of P6 for less money, great camera, pure android experience, etc. But as a real user, I was surprised to feel the phone is so hot after shooting a video, to see the wifi not a full bar although I am in the same room with the router. Most of all, I put the phone to the extreme battery saving mode overnight, but it still used 7%!, which is normal battery use for other phones. Their tensor chip is not complete, yet. So, keep these in mind if you want to purchase this. Wifi signal and b attery life are mentioned in passing by reviewers, but it is crucial in real use.
I was so happy with P3aXL, and P4a, so did not hesitate to buy this, but not so happy this time.

Also, even if I use data, it makes no sense to turn off 5g for a 5g phone.

In 2022, no wireless charging, 60hz refresh rates, and plastic backs can almost be forgiven on a $400 mid-tier phone. Unstable connectivity on the fastest networks, excessive heat, and an unreliable fingerprint sensor cannot.
Sage is 386, $50 off - I just scooped one as well.

'the issues' - don't sound like issues. 30 days will be plenty of time to test drive it; for all your complaining you couldn't cite a single comparable phone; yeah we all know by now you value ph strictly at $300, that extra 86$ over your fmv is gonna really pain me Mr. ChECK YoUtuBe
