Great phone, it has issues but like after disabling the 5G tensor stops running as hot and it has been a smooth buttery experience.

It's not a flagship but for 400$ it's a great experience mid-ranger

Sad it has a better fingerprint sensor than my P6 Pro which was a disaster of a phone.

But the 6a has been very well refined and is great for what it does

Defective lemons exist for every phone which is why people like Tidal should just get their phones exchanged instead of shouting for 300$ nonsense lol.

For $400, I would keep it although I am not totally into it. But I suggest anyone not pay more than that.
In my book, YT reviewers want Google to be like Apple on Android, so they are all crazy about this phone, saying like a smaller version of P6 for less money, great camera, pure android experience, etc. But as a real user, I was surprised to feel the phone is so hot after shooting a video, to see the wifi not a full bar although I am in the same room with the router. Most of all, I put the phone to the extreme battery saving mode overnight, but it still used 7%!, which is normal battery use for other phones. Their tensor chip is not complete, yet. So, keep these in mind if you want to purchase this. Wifi signal and b attery life are mentioned in passing by reviewers, but it is crucial in real use.
I was so happy with P3aXL, and P4a, so did not hesitate to buy this, but not so happy this time.
For me I have very low expectations for Android phones, but it's more about how much better Android is for productivity/browsing the web/just using a phone quickly than iOS. I've spent most of the past 10 years on iOS, currently on a 13 Pro Max, but I desperately miss how fast browsing is, the AI-powered news and suggested reading algorithms, the first-class-citizenry of Google Assistant, and the accuracy and quality of speech to text and swipe typing vs. iOS. I keep hoping iOS will get better, and my gf and all female friends are going to give me shit about the green text bubbles, but Android is just so much more powerful for getting things done quickly... that I ordered one. We'll see how much the hardware issues bug me.

Not slick enough. Gorilla glass 3 is too risky and easily breaks.

the 4a 5G was a great phone, except flaw that allowed dust behind camera lens and Google refusing to accept responsibility and denying warranty claims. The camera eventually becomes unusable to picture quality is so bad. ** note the trend here - Pixel phones tend to have one glaring issue, and Google will refuse to fix defects **

I've had my 4a 5G since launch and I've never heard of this issue (dust behind camera lens). Sounds like a defect on your particular phone. I would have returned or file a warranty claim. Did you?

For those with a fingerprint scanning issue, enable the touchscreen sensitivity and see if that helps.

I've had the 6A for over a week, and have had zero issues with fingerprint scanner or anything else for that matter. Great phone. Probably the best processor you will find at this price point. Brightness is much better compared to what my 3A was.

I went from a 3a to a 6a as well. No issues so far and seems like a great phone. The fingerprint scanner worked better before I put a 9h screen protector on it, but once I got used to using it everything is fine.

Yeah I opted to go without the screen protector because of the issues I had heard. First time doing that but just a chance I'm willing to take for the scanner to be more accurate. Nothing will be as good as the rear fingerprint scanners were, I've come to terms with that lol. But until they revert back to that, if ever, got to go with the flow. It works good enough for me so far.

I was on fence when this was up for preorder. I decided to skip the 6a and purchased the oneplus 8t. It's 350 on oneplus website. 12gb ram. 256gb storage. Refresh rate of 120. This phone is buttery smooth and works amazing. It is tmobile varient tho. But it was unlocked within 3 seconds on setting phone up. 6a would of been a beast of a phone. But low refresh rate and no quick charge made me skip it.

I just want to add that although the fingerprint scanner takes two times longer than my 4A rear fingerprint scanner. It is still quick enough for me and my work.

Are you using a screen protector? Some screen protectors do not work well with on screen fingerprint readers.
I am and it works fine right after I make the print. It's that it seems to forget after a while.

As a 6a owner, I appreciate the workarounds that you outline, but the need to have to do this is disappointing. When a user gimps a phone by disabling/avoiding 5g and wifi6 networks, you're essentially transforming the 6a into a Pixel 3a with a bit more RAM. The Pixel 3a was a great phone....in 2019.

In 2022, no wireless charging, 60hz refresh rates, and plastic backs can almost be forgiven on a $400 mid-tier phone. Unstable connectivity on the fastest networks, excessive heat, and an unreliable fingerprint sensor cannot.
You don't need 5G to for instagram, Snapchat, etc. LTE fast enough for what 99.99% of the population does. Now if you use hotspot, are a content creator, or upload/dl files for work okay. But for general browsing it's pointless and drains battery

You can Google search and you'll find it's a very common issue. And yes, i sent it in as phone was only a few months old and always in a case since day one. After two weeks, their 3rd party repair shop said it was because physical damage (once again, phone was mint, they were just taking payments for estimating and saying that to not actually have to do any work - great scam actually...) Google wanted like $400 to repair then, which on Reddit I've seen where ppl did pay for repair and it happened again. I got mine preorder and one of the first to receive, maybe they fixed later batches?
