Buy a small amp (Kinter K2020A+ Limited Edition Original Tripath TA2020-020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with 12V 5A Power Supply Black https://a.co/d/7MeWRXX) and hook up an echo dot. Run a few feet of speaker wire and you're set. I've had this set up outside on a covered patio for a few years and it's been working great.

These aren't powered speakers though so that won't help. You need some kind of amp to make the speakers work.

Ditto that... Other than the white case turning yellow (I spray painted it white to solve that problem), these have held up well for over 10 years on a covered deck and still sound great. For the price, you won't be disappointed.

Another suggestion is to buy a used Sonos Connect:Amp (model ZP120) from eBay and connect the speakers. The amp has been discontinued by Sonos so you can pick one up relatively expensively. The little unit can drive both a pair of speakers AND a subwoofer. It's a good way to get into Sonos without spending a bundle. It'll also sound fantastic.

This only feeds the signal to a POWERED sub. It will not 'drive' a sub.

Love these things. I installed a pair on my deck 20 years ago and they are still functionally perfect and sound the same as ever. They've yellowed and I repainted the rusted grills a few years back, but looking at this deal my only thought is "Maybe I should add more..." - no need or thought of replacing the old ones.

FYI (assuming no substantial changes to the drivers used or voicing - which I doubt Yamaha would do on a 20+ year running product) - they sound great. They do not sound boxy like these things can. They also do not bump, if that's what you're looking for. They play pretty flat and even over the spectrum. As someone mentioned, they also have a low sensitivity - meaning given the same amplifier pushing them, they will be quieter than a lot of other speakers. That is at least in part because of the non-exaggerated bass (no bass port providing an inflated boom). They're closer to a reference speaker than anything. So if you want loud speakers that will slam bass, they may not get it done for you. If you just want nice sound to adequately fill an outdoor space (for 20 years in my experience), these will definitely do it.

I have a Sonos amp running 4 Sonance outdoor speakers around my pool/fire pit. Pulling wire from my master bedroom closet to the attic to a junction box outside and then to each speaker via underground conduit was a CHORE but WELL WORTH IT!

They lasted about 10 years on my deck and were plenty loud. It feels like I paid closer to $150 then for the pair, so this is a great deal.
