Great product. I use mine almost every day for streaming, Steam streaming and Kodi. Much better for kodi than firetv if you have a large library.

Its interesting to see most positive comments are from people who own this and use it daily. The nay sayers look at the spec on paper and call it crap or they dont have a use case for such a powerful player.

I have one of these and I love it. We have been heavy users of the 2015 shield TV Pro for many years. (Which I think is pretty much the same as this model.)

My only issue lately is that it seems like I can't get OEM replacement controllers for any reasonable price?

I searched extensively the other day and couldn't find any.

Does anyone know why they are so hard to find and so expensive?

I think there were some available from a third party Amazon seller for like $90.00 or something crazy like that.
You can use the new remote for the 2015 model. Is on Amazon for $30

Like already mentioned by others the newer remote (triangle shaped one) and controllers are supposed to be compatible with the older 2015/2017 models.

Continuous sales since 2019 shows that the Shield is much more than its X1+ chip. As long as it does a good job of moving data and processing graphics, the power is stil sufficient for most. It's like a Synergy drive that was posted, that happens to come with a Celeron processor. I thought, a 'Celeron'??? But a NAS isn't doing number crunching as much as it's moving data and processing graphics operations I suppose. If they left the X1+ chip the same but made it a 4GB/64GB, added HDMI 2.1, HDR+, etc., it would be a hit. COVID issues probably got in the way of its 2-year product refreshes for a 2021 release. It's likely arriving November 2022 to March 2023. If I were them, I'd come out with an additional higher end PRO ADVANCED model at R$299 (or even $349) and throw much more resources into that model (like the XBOX X vs S).

I have 2. The Pro is in the livingroom and sees daily use. It has a lot more horsepower than a Roku and it shows. I have a tube style Shield in the bedroom. It works great. Since it has a microsd card slot I take it camping and on trips. We have a projector and like to watch a movie at night when we camp. I connect the Shield to the hotel room TV and can play my movies and if the wifi is decent I get more programing options.

If they are discounting the Shield Pro this steeply then they must have a new Shield Pro coming out soon.

I have a 2015 one. It might be older, but it still plays everything I throw at it.
Ripped movies in 4K hdr over wifi, no problem.
People claiming this hardware is oils and outdated have been used one.

If you do get one, don't auto update the firmware. Nvidia tends to release crap for updates.

I love mine but it often won't work with Hulu. Amazing for Plex. Attached a 1TB usb ssd for the blurays.
My Shield Pro works great with Hulu. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Hulu app? Just trying to be helpful.
