Was $265 back in Sept 2020 when I got it. Which taking inflation into account, is the same price as today without the total tech. Worth getting now to avoid the long waits for install during the winter.

I believe it is lifetime warranty as long as you have the papers. You can take it to them to get it checked.

I had best buy install this for me. 11 months later, it fried the ECU of my car. Cost over $3k in damages, best buy I got this installed won't return my emails or calls. I sent them pictures that the dealer took and of the parts with the receipts. Anyone know if there is another number I can call other than the usual number.

I had compustar installed on my 12 Scion tC 10 years ago, works perfect. I had it installed at the actual headquarters in alaska tho where compustar originated. Nice company good people. After 8 years my key fob still worked but it go from full battery indicator to dead, not lower bars.

compustar sent me a brand one updated key fob free. Blew my mind. I paid a thousand dollars for total kit+ install. But I got a pro series alarm : remote start system. Something like Mile or miles of range

I still have the car today works perfect w manual I come to a stop, pull e brake, get out. Car turns off like 3 seconds later, and locks doors up. I only use remote start couple times a year but I actually prefer the auto locking up when I get out. My gf's car gets robbed randomly bc she forgets to lock it

Screw people with manual transmissions I guess... I mean I kinda get why, but at the same time, I imagine anyone with a manual would know not to put it in gear if they plan on using this.

I got this deal the last time it popped last year. Got one for my wife and one for my SIL for xmas gifts. I bought TT first, as I would have saved the 100 bucks on each, thus getting it for 'free'. I was able to schedule install for her and my wife separately as I clicked through the installations options (make/model of car, times etc - as an aside, the harness and wiring was also free, though I had to add it during this process). After that, I was also able to add my SIL name to the receipt so she would be able to go independently and have it installed. She had to change the time due to scheduling conflict, though I had to do that as it was under my account but she was able to have it installed all by herself with her ID.

So short answer, I dont see why not.

If you are thinking of getting more than one, I will say that TT did not offer me any huge deals, but I realized after the fact I could have them come and install a wall mounted TV, for example, all for the price of the items. if you were looking for a PS5/XBox, they had a few TT only drops...I was also looking to get a new dishwasher and oven, which apparently they also will install free, though I dont know how seamless that will be.

Overall was a good purchase personally - and if you are a frequent BB shopper each purchase will have at least a buck or two off for TT depending on how exp the product is.

Edit: You also get that free geeksquad repair stuff and increased return window - again not that amazing but does not hurt if something goes awry
wait - even if you don't purchase the tv at bestbuy, as long as you purchase the equipment at bestbuy, they will come and wall mount tv for free with TTL?

Out of curiosity, what are the biggest benefits from this?
Many vehicles come with factory autostart now, but their range is very limited. These have great range and are mainly for warming up or cooling off your cabin before you go out to your vehicle. I would consider installing this for my wife's car instead of using her factory autostart, just for the range.

My car never had autostart until I had one installed. The first one started going on the fritz after a few years, so I got this one to replace it 2-3 years ago and it has been wonderful.

Be prepared to pay some extra for certain things they might need to install to make it work with your vehicle.

I decided not to carry my factory fob and that meant giving up having the panic button option on this unit, because it would have cost an extra $100 for an extra module, IIRC.

HTH!

Let's be correct, it didn't fry the ecu, the installer did something improper which caused it to fry.

ecu is protected by fuses etc. gotta wonder how bad the installer jacked your shit up.

i fried my ecu on another car actually doing audio work, I had wires not grounded or spliced wrong. It was my fault, that was installers fault somehow. An auxiliary should never interfere with any other element

Can I get total tech, install this and cancel TT? do they have grace period on TT?

I guess not, this is what best buy has in terms

"Cancellation within 60 days. The Member may cancel Best Buy Totaltechâ„¢ and receive a full refund in the amount paid for Totaltech if the cancellation is within 60 days of purchase of the initial term or any annual renewal term. We may deduct from any refund the value of Membership discounts, services or benefits already provided during the then-current term. The price you paid for any limited supply item(s) purchased during priority access, Members-only events, is a benefit that we may deduct from an eligible refund if Membership is canceled. However, you will be entitled to a full refund of the portion of the Membership fee that was allocated to the Trust for the then-current term to pay for Protection Plans, except that a deduction can be made from such amount for any Best Buy Protection Plan repairs or
replacement costs incurred during the then-current term. "

Mine stopped working, installed by bestbuy. Is their warranty 12 months? How do I diagnose the problem?
warranty is as long as you own the vehicle and can be brought to any bestbuy for repair. Usually the problem is , if you have any maintenance light on the dashboard it could cause the remote start not to function even if just the tire pressure being low.

TotalTech includes basic install on most purchased items that have an install option. I'm not seeing install options on only buying a wall mount.

you have to purchase it separately or buy the membership with the remote start to get the discount. and the membership start at purchase and you can't cancel to get the membership refunded , it is good for the year and would auto renew unless cancelled.

Faulty part, misinstalled or whatever the case maybe. I'm just hoping for some sort of reimbursement. Sucks that it's still a hit or a miss even if you go to an authorized installer.

I agree, my comment was towards this. Kinda made sound compustar did it, it wasn't. It was the installer. made sound like to others compustar directly ruined your car hence others would avoid it that actually want it or need it and cause them to pass

Bestbuy should replace it if keep on it

I'd file a tort of some sort
