Which size do you have? The 77" A80J has the EVO panel along with the entire A90J series. The 55" and 65" have the semi matte finish. It's only really good for diffusing light in bright living rooms etc. I previously had the A8H 65", and Sony replaced it with the A80J 65" under warranty. They didn't have the A8H in stock. I noticed the difference right away. I should've sold it, but my wife loves it.
Do you not like the a80j? where my TV would sit there is a lot of natural light coming in from behind.

Semi matte? Mine isn't like that. Is this a panel lottery thing?
I have a 65in and mine doesn't look semi matte either. I have the one with the physical microphone switch on the side. the finish on the glass has nothing to do with the panel. Maybe mine is semi but it's hard to tell, I see reflections from the lights pretty well.

Mine sits in front of two windows and I love it. I can still see it extremely well with both shades open in the middle of the day

I don't because I liked the picture on the A8H much better. We have a huge window opposite of our TV, and it's still hard to watch at times. We constantly have to close the curtains around noon or so if we're watching TV. OLEDs always used glossy screens in the past, but Sony started using semi matte screens on the A80J series. The A80K 55-77" models have a similar finish.

I have an older Sony 4K TV in my bedroom from 2015. Once that TV goes, I'll put the A80J in there. I'll get something else for the living room. If I had the 77" A80J, I wouldn't complain.

I picked this up for prime day and was delivered two weeks ago. Fantastic tv. No issues with brightness. Have two
Medium sized windows diagonal from where the tv is mounted on the wall and no issues seeing the picture. No brainer for the price

Any thoughts if it will get lower with Black Friday just around the corner. I really want to pull the trigger
I am surprised to see A80J still available at a major retailer and on sale too. I doubt any will be left for Black Friday but this year's A80K might be closer to this price by then. Probably $100 or $200 more. If I was looking at buying a Sony OLED in this size I would jump on this. I just recently got a brand new 55" LG G1 for $1K from Best Buy and second guess myself up to the 3 weeks it took me to pick it up even though it went back up to $1300 during that time. It was until it was sold out at that price that I was comfortable that I got a good deal at $1K. 24 months interest free payments too. I think this A80J is as good a deal. We second guess ourselves all the time but I don't think you'll regret jumping on this deal, it's a helluva tv.

How does this compare to the LG OLED
I have both. Lg has better brightness. Overall LG is better eventho same panel. Dont take me wrong, Sony is still an excellent tv.

They are starting to go out of stock places. Chances are this is the clearout and there won't be much left for black friday.

Man. I've been on a wild goose chase trying to get this TV. Had a couple of open box debacles at Best Buy, then happened to catch their website when a new one was in stock for $1,499. Bought it, and then it immediately went out of stock.

I've got total tech, so get 2 years of geek squad protection for free and their credit card so financing if I want. Also easy returns where they'll pick it up. But I don't trust that they're actually going to have the TV. Amazon has the TV for $100 less, but with none of my Best Buy perks.

I ordered this from Amazon because I think this price will be the floor for this TV, but I'm considering trying to price match to best buy incase they actually do have the TV.

WWYD??

Anyone has experience about this TV for sun glare reflections, I want to put into the living room where I have enough sunlight coming from windows.

My understanding is that direct sunlight is okay as long as it's not HITTING the screen.

I have a similar situation where I've got a bright living room with some direct rays of sun, but they hit the floor and not the TV, so I think it'll work out.
