It's personal preference really. I used both of these at my desk. The KEFs have better imaging and clarity, but the R162s projected a bigger, fuller wall of sound which I preferred. So it may or may not be an upgrade depending on the sound you're looking for.
Thanks. Definitely perform the latter since they're used in my home theater so I'll keep the Infinitys.
Just bought a pair of the brown ones from Amazon $299 also. Gonna see how they compare to my Jamo S803. I have the Jamo S803 HCS system with a SVS SB1000 and it's awesome. I doubt these will impress me to the point of switching out the front L and R Jamo but we'll see.
jamo s803's are on sale for 85 dollars right, I have them and they're not very good. Just sound ok for their price point. I think these will definitely an upgrade. I might upgrade to the q350's for 500.
What are you using to power that system, an AVR or something else? I'm considering something like that for computer, where I feel going with a large AVR would be overkill.
I am powering 5x Q150s off a Yamaha TSR-7850 paired up with a SVS PB-2000 Sub. It's a home theater in a large room so it doesn't quite match your use case. For what it's worth it's LOUD and hit's reference levels without issue. I can't really comment on the performance with a modest(20W) amplifier that you might use with a computer but the TSR-7850 is 95W rated with 2 channels driven.
I wanted to get these for my front L & R, but all of the KEF center speakers put me way out of my budget. would be nice if they made a Q150 center, or at least sold these as singles so i could buy a 3rd as a center.
That's what eBay is for selling extra speakers after you bought a pair and only need one

You can try to track down a since Q150 and use that as your center. They would be timber matched.
Just a thought for those looking to eventually upgrade to the LS50 Metas: skip these and save your money for the upgrade. With the proper amplification, the LS50 Metas are a significant step up.
However, the Q150s are almost a no brainer if you are looking for a speaker in this price range. You could drive it with something like an NAD D3020 V2 or PS Audio Sprout 100 amp and be happy for a long time.
the KEFs should easily out perform your current ones. much more neutral and accurate.
First impressions of them not all that great. They have a lil more bass than the Jamo S803 but other than that my ears don't hear anything different. The highs on the Jamo may be a bit more pronounced too, I like the v curve sound. Will test them for a few more days but right now it's looking like they'll be going back
It's going to be a subtle difference. The KEFs are better built and have less characterization from the cabinet. The uni-q driver makes a difference depending on how far your MLP is and what you are watching; which brings me to suggest that you try these out and compare with jamos as a stereo pair rather than in your 5.1 where the center will carry the most load.
The KEFs are also rear ported as opposed to the front port of the jamos, so placement from the wall matters more here than with the jamos.
Good luck and share your thoughts too.

you need to make sure they are broken in when doing a comparison. if you like the artificial / inaccurate V-shape tonality then they may not be right for you. KEF are well known for being very neutral and accurate. the KEF will have a much better build quality and MUCH higher quality internal components (open up your jamo and look at the cheap low quality crossovers they use)
