This is DRAM-less but uses HMB. I understand that to mean write speeds will slow down once the SLC cache fills up.
Samsung has a long history of making most the most reliable solid state drives. It doesn't matter if a competitor is an ounce faster if this is a pound more reliable. That being said nobody should buy 980's the 980 pro is the best choice followed by the 970 Evo plus. The 980 is slower and usually more expensive than the 970 Evo plus. They're is also 970 Evo without the plus that's even older. https://ssd.userbenchma
