Would this solve the 4K/120hz issue for MacBooks?

LG website has the same price. No USB-C so it is a no go for me. USB-C is so convenient with Macs and new laptops.

Most people have displaylink docks nowadays so they can run multiple monitors on macs. It will still just be a single cable connection.

Most people? I don't know a single person personally who has one.

Really? I have like 4 usb c docks with displayport and hdmi on them. Been getting them for my phones and other devices for like 3 or 4 years now.

I think its more likely most people DO own one and that you are the minority on this. I mean they are like 20 bucks on amazon.

30 if you need one with decent PD.

To paraphrase Blizzard (and I hate to quote them but must) Don't you all own phones? Or laptops or tablets or any of the myriad devices you can use a hub to plug into keyboard/mouse and 4 screens?

The one you are talking about is a hub, not a dock. Yes, most poeple own a hub, including me.

Thanks, I know.

In order to drive a 4k@60Hz+ display, let alone multiple of them, you need a proper thunderbolt dock. They fetch as much as a decent monitor to begin with.

Oh well yeah those super expensive docks barely do much more in most cases anyway.

Even if you need 100w PD unless you really need to dock it in a fancy way to save space, you can find a cheap hub that does it just fine.

Is this better/worse/same as Aorus fo48u 48" 4k oled. The aorus has USB-C but not really for the use case people were talking about above. It's more for use with the built in kvm. Think it can only carry a 1080p signal and doesn't output enough wattage to power much more than a small ultrabook. I use a USB C to display port cable for 4k 120hz from my laptop. Works with multiple laptops I've tried as long as it's a thunderbolt port. The aorus regularly goes on sale for 700. It's an LG OLED panel but I assume LG would save the best panels for themselves? Who knows. I've been enjoying my extra screen real estate. I'm sure this would make an excellent monitor as well.

False.
I'm sure it's fine for some setups, but thats a lot of screen at normal desk viewing distance. 48" at 2-3 feet is crazy. Your head is going to be all over the place to track anything on screen.

If I'm going to look at a screen that big, I'll just use the 65" LG C1 on the other side of the room.

Excuse my ignorance, but how different is this from a C1 or c2? Aside from the fact that it has a display port
I wouldnt say it isnt different. Aside from the display port and ability to overclock the refresh to 138hz, this screen has a matte coating. C1 and C2 have the traditional glass screen for oleds so the colors do pop more.

It was the sole reason i went C1. The reflections on it bothered me none to need to have a matte. Subjective opinion, but there is a difference to me for color presentation.

48 is just too big for a monitor.

I think I'll end up with the 42" LG C2. Which is still going to be a huge adjustment from my current 32"
48 ain't that bad if you can wall mount and back your desk up another 6" or so. I do prefer 42/43 though.
