Unfortunately, it is expensive and uses older hardware that doesn't fully support all the new stuff. It does well with most things though.
There are some people that find it getting to be buggy, while others still have a great experience after 3 years of ownership.
I personally think this is still too expensive for a device using 3 year old hardware, but I would buy a new version of this. However, I'm not sure if Nvidia will update the hardware again.
If you just want a device that works and you aren't worried about playing high quality Blu Ray rips, this is probably overkill - I'd probably look at the firetv, Roku, ccwgtv, Apple 4k, etc.
Here's a decent discussion on Reddit comparing the Apple TV 4k / Firecube 3 / Shield Pro TV - https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAn...are_
Edit - it's also at Best Buy and B&H Photo for the same price.

Along with watching iptv , Netflix ect. Best streaming device I've ever used.
Someone here convince me otherwise? Thanks
What other device even compares? I think it's still the best if it's kind. It's not lacking in performance in any way that would limit it that I can think of.
However, the massively positive response from these 12.5% discounted Nvidia Sheild promos almost entirely comes from their current installed base of Shield owners and NOT from today's buyers. The front page status doesn't equate to a large hot deal wave of new buyers. It's mostly an endorsement from current owners that may artificially motivate prospective buyers.
You rarely can go wrong with the Sheild Pro. It's a media box leader, however do your research to be sure it's the best fit for your current and future needs. In my case, many of its feature advantages didn't apply to me (gaming, Dolby Vision), and the ones that did apply to me came with a variety of issues (some solvable and some not). The Plex media server didn't support .iso formats requiring complex lengthy conversions, etc. Viewing the review sites and videos isn't enough, as many of them received the product free or they've been given incentives. It's important to research the Shield owner discussions on the features that you use most often.
The Shield Pro is relying on its reputation a little too long without getting the future software and hardware development upgrades that it needs. Instead of a Shield Tube and Shield Pro, I'd rather see a Shield Standard (current Pro but $149) and a Shield Advanced (more memory, upgraded ports, features, etc., at $199-$249).
Google, Amazon, Roku, Apple and others, will be almost giving away their products for free knowing that they'll make money back on future services and advertizing. Also, Onn is selling tens of thousands of their little cheap media boxes. All of them aren't as good as the Shield Pro (overall), although some are actually better with some features.
Nvidia needs to get better and solve issues or it may face an ever-declining market share. Sadly, the Shield product family is not strategically important to NVidia at the moment and there are more profitable places for them to invest in.
