If the internet is out it will work as regular switches. They will have a blinking red wifi sign to show you the internet is down, but they will work normally. If I'm not wrong, they will keep the present state when the power cycle, or maybe off, I had some power outages and didn't have to walk around the house turning them off, but I'm not sure if the lights that was on remained on. But it will not wake you up in the middle of the night in case of outage.

Tp-Link is staying in business as far as I've read. Matter compliant devices should come out by the end of the year. I don't think they've announced if they're going to release their new products under Kasa or Tapo branding.

the motion distance range is terrible in motion switch. it does not turn on until i get close to 5 ft or so. Is this expected?

That's pretty normal. In the app you can adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor. See if that helps if you're not already on the most sensitive setting.

Depends on the age of your switch boxes in my experience. My ~1960 house has steel multi-gang boxes that are very shallow and have limited volume - I ended up replacing the triple gang box at my front door because there was no way 3 smart switches were going to fit in it along will all of the wiring.

Newer wiring in my house (~20 year old addition and ~10 year old kitchen renovation) use modern plastic multi-gang boxes which are larger volume and have no issue handling single/double/triple/quadruple smart switches. I find that using Wago 221 lever nuts saves additional space within the original box versus standard wire nuts.

Just finished installing the 3 way switches. Overall installation is very easy. Quality seems good, just hoping there's more clicking feedback when I click on the switches. Other than that, software works great and debating hs200 set up once it's cheaper than what listed now. I have been looking at all their switches throughout this year waiting for a deal to load up. I believe it's been lower price before

yeah this is the reason I didn't go all out. I have one masa k115 or whatever the predecessor to the 125 energy monitoring plug. My killawatt shows permanent 1.1 w draw. That's 24/7. It's okay for one plug. But multiply by a bunch and they may even have higher power draw and the environmental and financial costs add up quickly. I understand everyone is different. Oh well.
