$189 at Microcenter if you live near one
AM6 😂

You realize AM5 is probably gonna live on as a system for probably the next 6-8 years before we ever see an AM6?
It has been this price for a while. Why a deal?

I have a 3600 with a 3070ti on an x570 steel legend. Been thinking about upgrading as I feel I'm cpu limited in warzone and apex.

Everyone keeps saying go for the 58003d or w.e but the price difference doesn't seem worth it?
check to see what resolution you currently use and go from there; yes most of the time lower resolution is more cpu dependent for high frames than gpu

but you don't need the extra cores; it's more of higher core clocks that matter for higher frames if gpu isn't the limiter and for the 5800x3d the core clocks are locked

the only thing that benefits are people who play at 4k who need more cache

Why don't they include a cooler for a 65W CPU? Could have thrown in a spire yo.

Doesn't mean much. I had to get 3 different AM4 Mobo over the year. Ppl complain about Intel changing chipset but it's not much better with AMD.

To save money. AMD was arguing ppl rather buy HSF/AIO than use stock cooler but they were being cheap. I have my own setup but it's nice to have backup HSF.

It's been at this price for around a month so I'm waiting till it drops below $150. I've got a 2600X right now with a brand new X570S MB but I can wait a bit, no rush. But it'll bring my system up to PCIe 4.0 which the 2600X limits to 3.0. I've actually never upgraded a PC this way. I always intend to but never get around to it, other than getting faster and bigger HDs. But AM4 still has some life in it regardless of the AM5 and Intel gen 13 hype (not knocking these but most people don't need them yet).

Man, I just bought the 5600 for $125 total at Microcenter. Hope it lasts and performs well for years. Last processor I was running was an i5-4670K and it still performed decently well. Although I normally game at 1080p.

It's been at this price at various times since last black friday or even before. Microcenter has it at $190 at all times. I'm waiting on for it to hit $150-160 and I'll upgrade from my 5600x and give my old chip to my sibling.

Yeah, I don't expect it to hit these prices for some time, but I can wait, it's not like I really need the upgrade, just seems right for some reason. Plus I do intend to get back to coding and working on some databases, and it might help there. I've got years of minute by minute weather station data I'd like to sift through.

How will being limited to DDR4 limit you for future upgrades?

How does this processor compare to an i7-12700F?

Sorry to ask newb questions, but my son asked me to help him build a gaming system and I'm trying to get back into the game.

This is a processor at the end of the AM4 socket line - if you're looking for a machine to upgrade going forward get a AM5 and DDR5 (or Intel equivalent), even though performance isn't going to be night and day.
