For those not familiar with this model, these things are monsters, throw an absolutely amazing picture with amazing colors. While not true 4k, it's superior to 1080p and I see no pixels at 120". I ran this one for a couple years, then when it broke got an Epson laser (the LS11000). Yes, these are expensive, but to quote Ferris Bueller, if you have the means, I highly recommend you pick one up.

Projector Central has a really useful calculator for figuring out throw distance, screen size, and brightness to see how well it (or most any projector) will work in your room...

I ran this one for a couple years, then upgraded to the laser version (the LS11000). Yes, these are expensive, but to quote Ferris Bueller, if you have the means, I highly recommend you pick one up.
However, I trialed this versus the Sony vw295; for motion pictures, the visual quality difference was negligible for me. I put the cost savings I put into a zero edge projector screen with ambient lighting.
I did buy this prepandemic, for 1400 at best buy after GC. Best purchase. The lens shifting on this is a godsend for placement, as well as changing from 16:9 to 2.35:1.

Basically, a lot of people think the 5050ub is superior to the LS11000 simply because of the contrast and blacks. I guess it comes down to whether you value contrast/blacks (5050UB) or laser/120hz (LS11000). The 5050ub is definitely the better value and I don't see a sale on the LS11000 any time soon. It's kind of mad that the 5050 is almost (not really) half as much when it's a comparable image with better blacks.
And like a poster above said, be aware that they're both very, very large projectors.
Measured contrast levels are going to be 1200:1 vs 4500:1 with the 5050 having a manual iris that can be closed down to get to around 6000:1. Ignore manufacturer contrast numbers.
