lmao, crippled laptop? This laptop can do far more than an ipad can because Apple limits ipads to iOS, which is extremely limiting. My older mother tries to do all her stuff on an ipad and about once a week she runs into a problem, poorly designed websites dont display their forms right, she needs to digitally sign a document on a website that doesnt load on iOS, she cant find an identical app equivalent to the software she uses on laptop, etc. After confirming the issue isnt with her poor tech skills, I have to tell her to pull out her laptop and do it there.
An ipad as an only device isnt practical at all.

This laptop will do everything you want, as long as its not gaming or heavy productivity work.
I've been extremely happy with the one I got on a previous deal. The screen is gorgeous. I bought it for someone who does very basic tasks like emailing, Excel, YouTube, so I wasn't too concerned by there only being 8GB of memory.
Also available from BB via eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/325333918411

For those who are interested, I bought 3 units of this when it was $500 in Jul last year. One of them cannot power up after using for around 6 months. Sent it back to ASUS to check, there is problem with the RAM. Since it's soldered, motherboard replacement was required.....

Zenbook usually has better build quality and designs.

EDIT:
I think I would try to avoid buying laptop with soldered RAM in the future (even if it has an empty SODIMM slot)

Hmm. Do I keep the Acer 516 GE Chromebook or get this one? ($449 vs $549 / Chrome OS VS Windows).
Darn near identical hardware, the screen is big and clear on the Acer, but the OLED is pretty darn good on the Asus...
Do I really need Windows? Chrome (and Linux apps) does almost everything.

Just curious about some comparisons. Thanks

The laptop 100% you will be glad you chose that over a Chromebook.

Does this have a touchscreen? I'm having a hard time confirming.

What do you folks think about this vs the Acer Swift 3 at costco? https://www.costco.com/acer-swift...73090.html

Same processor. I'm coming from an acer spin 5 I've loved for 6 years. This is a work computer, so I usually have multiple tabs open, excel, sometimes photoshop. But I hate the speakers on my acer (poor location, and they're quiet) and the webcam is crap. I keep all my files in the cloud, so hard drive size doesn't matter to me. I like the 2 year costco warranty better on the acer, but I don't think it's a touchscreen.

Laptopmedia reviews both and it seems performance and battery life is similar.

Is there a RAM slot to upgrade...this would be heck of a good laptop if you could add a 16GB stick

How long till I can find a 14" 2k OLED with a 12th gen i5 and 16GB ram for under like $700 from any reputable brand? The vivo X or whatever was close but had terrible thermals
Why focus on 12th gen i5 when you can get a 2K OLED with Zen? Zen is more power efficient.

There are actually a lot to choose from on Ali Express. Search for OLED Portable Monitor. They don't have stands, though. Just kick-stands.

The prices aren't even crazy.

This laptop would 100% be more enticing with 2x the RAM.

This means you probably won't be buying any super thin/light laptop.

It was $450 a year ago

BestBuy somehow thinks folks would want the old tech for $100 more a year later

I have been happy with this.. the screen as everyone is saying is great. My only issue is my download speeds are considerably inferior to my cheapo Acer laptop, less than half as fast. Has anyone else had this issue with this one and figured out a fix? Thanks

Does anyone make a reasonably priced 17.3 oled laptop with 16x9 screen? I have been looking and nothing found so far.

oh the irony... crippled.. proprietary.. that sounds like apple characteristics.. artificially limiting bluetooth.. yup.. android phone with 128gb storage provides more utility than a 2TB iphone storage because it can't be used in any way you see fit because you don't have access to it.

apple is the crippled one here.
