Great find. Thanks for posting.
Edit, your original specs were wrong then
There are 🤡 here...had one argue that's it's better to buy 799 @8gb model than 999. @ 16gb from microcenter

yikes.
the other week, dell had a refurb intel i7/512gb ssd/16gb ram laptop WITH A TOUCHSCREEN for $250. granted, we don't have a time machine, but you're paying FOUR times as much for HALF the specs.
but hey, if you got money fallin' out of yer pockets when you walk down the street, more power to ya!
Lol apples to oranges
Yep also the battery life is not even in the same class. I'm a big pc guy but when pc laptops only last 3-4 hours it's a pita and inferior build quality
Used it for mainly college and studying programming.
Battery is insanely good, only charged it a total of three times thus far.
I did a lot of research before buying and most reviewers said that whatever Apple has done with their M1/M2 SoC it's so fast that you really don't notice much difference.
I just did a Zoom call on mine with maybe 12 applications open and 40+ Chrome tabs open (I know I know) and my laptop wasn't the least bit sluggish at all.
I'd say for 98% of use-cases 8GB is fine when it's M1 or M2.
Source: own a 64GB M1.
