My first deal share, so please be gentle. :-)

Deal of the Day, good until midnight CST Thursday 3/2.

Not as good ($20 more) as last week, but still $15 per TB.

I've got 8 of these drives sitting in two boxes. I'm not sure if I'm going to return them and wait for my 8 16TB gold drives for the same price. 3 years of warranty and no shucking but 2tb less each, for the same price. Oof.

Decent price (15/tb) but they were $250 - 13.88/tb a week or two back.

I have this exact drive. It is ridiculously noisy. Using one for a Plex server and it clicks every few seconds even when not using Plex. Only buy if not in a room being occupied.

I have 4 of these exact drives in a Synology NAS, used primarily as a Plex server. As quiet as the 14TB and 10TB drives were when they were previously in the NAS.

Check the power. I had one clicking I swapped out the startech 4 in one power SATA extenders and that fixed it.

Definitely just take the 18TBs. You can still RMA shucked drives, and if they fail prematurely, it will be in the first few months. Plus, affording one more drive/more capacity is a better warranty.

I don't shuck and return. I buy to shuck then either do shuck or reconsider. To shuck and return with a different drive is fraud.

Yep, I'm always scared of getting a drive like that. So I always do pickup in-store instead of the lockers. I want to inspect the box to make sure it wasn't damaged or opened in anyway. And as soon as you plug it up look at the SMART data and verify the serial number is the same as on the box, drive, and in the drive itself using any HDD utility.
