Other than a few blips of price jumps since about August 2021, Triple Camel has shown this to be the normal price.

There are a ton of YouTube videos out there on seasoning cast iron. This is most likely preseasoned but most cast iron purist out there will likely recommend re-seasoning it.

Better over the hot coals once the fire dies down. If you use it over a non for you'll burn the food and strip the seasoning.
Weird comment because they do sell a 12". It's $25.
As to the 8" size, I'm not sure why so many are bemoaning the size. A small indestructible casserole or dip or meal for one dish for $12 is a pretty good deal. Not having a handle means it goes into an oven (and I use a countertop oven almost exclusively) very easily. I have a breadth of pans and skillets in my kitchen and I don't always grab a large baker. I could see using this to make an individual size shepherds pie, a pot pie or even a cobbler. This might not be a great deal vs the normal price on these but as a versatile kitchen item, it seems like a decent value.
