Similar performance in gaming to Ryzen 5 3600. But this is pcie 3.0. 3600 beats it slightly in some games. Nice cheap upgrade to those on Ryzen 3 or 5 1st or 2nd gen. Can utilize same motherboard with bios update.

There is no budget card that is going to be affected by PCI3 speeds. There are barely ultra high end ones that are.

Unless you are aiming for 240fps this is a non-issue for 99% of use cases.

Ooh that 16MB of L3 cache stings. I guess this is where they saved money but with how cache-hungry Zen is I would not like to have this as a gaming CPU

Especially when paired with one of the newer budget AMD cards it's probably better to spend $40 more then and get a 5600 so that the GPU has enough PCIe bandwidth.

Almost bought but you need a 5600X to use PCIE Gen 4 ssd's so i found one locally gently used for 100. Good deal though if your using a older mobo like b450

Not true. Both the RX 6400 and RX 6500, AMD's budget GPUs are significantly slower on PCIe 3.0, because they are gimped GPUs. Performance is up to 40% slower in some games when using PCIe 3.0 vs PCIe 4.0, though the average is between 15%-25% depending on your resolution.

Technically correct but talking about x4 lane cards is cheating when the full PCIe3 x16 interface can only get saturated by a 4090.

Currently running a Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 750 Ti but it is obviously long in the tooth. Board is a ROG STRIX B350-F that I can put a newer AM4 chip in if I upgrade BIOS.

I am going to get a RTX 4060 in July when they drop for $299. Just wanna play Diablo 4. Is this processor up to it and a worthwhile upgrade?

Use AMD curve optimizer app to get the right voltage and cooling. I was able to use the auto setting to get my temps down 18c but I have the crappier 5800x so it was a must.

Well it looks like i'm upgrading my cpu today. Currently have a 2600 and this one looks like it'll give me a performance boost. Pairing this with a RX 6600.
