I have an Arris sb6183 and am looking to upgrade eventually. Docsis 4 is supposed to be released later this year and my current modem seems to be working but I cannot upgrade the speed until I purchase a new modem. Maybe I will wait.

My 5 year old SB6190 unexpectedly died earlier this week so I rushed out at 9:30pm to buy a replacement from Wal-mart for $80. As a long time slickdealer, paying full price for a SB6190 was not something I felt great about, but had to get the network back online ASAP. Now I can return that SB6190 and replace it with this one. I might even upgrade to the 1Gpbs service plan now. Damn it feels good to be a gangster.

check the power adapter before you throw out the old modem. i had one go dark over night and turned out to be the power adapter and not the modem

That's a good tip and luckily I did have a compatible power adapter on hand at the time so it was the first thing I tried. The SB6190 takes a 12v 1amp power supply, which is the same as a lot of LED lights.

Bought this a few months ago when it was previously listed on Slick Deals but had to return it when it failed to work.

I have had this for 3 years with no problems. Just bought another one for family. My local Walmart was out but Best Buy price matched so I could pick up today.

Noticed there are 2 RJ45 ports. Anyone knows what is the use of the 2 ports? Typically one goes to your router but can you connect 2 routers?

This is a great modem. Had one a few years ago until I started hitting my data cap. Because Comcast are a bunch of crooks, they require you rent the modem from them to remove the cap.

It is for link aggregation. The ethernet ports are 1Gbps so using 2 ports you could get up to a 2Gbps between the router and modem. You would only need that if your internet connection is greater than 1Gbps and you have a router that supports link aggregation.
