Unless you're already in the Asus wrt eco system, get the WAX206 for $70 or WRX36 for $80, @amazon.

I had this router up until a few days ago and replaced it. For some reason, it kept dropping the signal and I tried different settings, but nothing worked long term. I put in an old TplinkI had laying around and that's holding me over until the TPLINK Archer AXE5400 comes in. No more problems with the old TpLink. I did love the Asus app and all the settings. Read the good / bad reviews carefully before buying any new tech.

You are 100% correct. I just received and it drops every 30 mins. I am a long time Asus router user, in fact I have a global network of 4 RT-AC68U's in various countries.Have worked great for years. I introduced this model and I can't even get it to work for one place. I share my cable TV through my network of routers when I travel to each location, and it keeps dropping the VPN connection. But it also is dropping local devices. I have to reboot router. I have tweaked everything, I know what I am doing. The APP also does not work and the reviews confirmed that I would have problems. I am shocked that ASUS seems to be in decline. They shouldn't be selling this model. Shame on me.

I've had 2 ASUS routers and they were both replaced with same signal drop problems. They may have other models that are better but I stay away from ASUS.
