Amazon [amazon.com] has Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 Internal Solid State Drive for $116.99 when you clip the coupon on the page. Shipping is free.

OP NOTE: See comments but it seems buyers are having difficulty (if not an impossible time) actually receiving a code for the free Adobe 2-Month Subscription so don't count on it. Removed it from the title of the post but will keep it in the body of the deal.

Wow,,, Sorry, but that's tech. That's quite an application of disposable income, and something I can't wrap my head around. I have many thousands wrapped up in SSDs too, but far fewer dead bodies lying around....

Quick math puts your endeavor at $8-9k, or more. but if it's a work expense then it's funny money... If not, then time to get some impulse control... laugh out loud
Unless needed right now, I think it's wise to hold out for Prime Day or even Black Friday at this point. These are becoming pretty regularly discounted.
I stopped buying, or caring, about Adobe software, because, well, you really can't buy it.

Adobe wanted to turn people into renters because they knew they really didn't have enough new and compelling stuff to offer for new release. They also wanted to normalize their income stream regardless of what they did. Now they bilk, ooops, i meant "milk" people constantly (i.e., forever). Unfortunately it worked and lot of people signed up and those people will pay far more than they would have previously, and now have a parasite attached.

I can still go back and use old software and suites without paying adobe, and not worry about making a payment or losing access to my files.

PS- this is Microsoft's plan too. You will rent their garbage...... (Win 11 is dog feces).

I like Adobe products and have been using them for 15 years. Like you, I have old suites but changed over to the Photography plan over the past 4 years. I recently changed over to Capture one as the latest version of Lightroom Classic brought my system to a crawl due to the new AI features. My M1 iMac is only 2 years old

Capture One had a 50%off promotion a month ago, so I bought the "permanent version". Runs really well. While I may not have the latest and greatest at all times, this should keep me going for a few years. Just have to update Topaz and On1 plugins from time to time. Capture One seems to render the colors more accurately.
That's a great deal!

I used to use Capture 1 too. When I bought my first Sony (I was primarily a Canon shooter at the time) they had a deal to get it for next to nothing. I bought it, and then went through at least 4 upgrades but I backed off because I was traveling so much and what I was doing at the time my old PS did what I wanted it to do.

That said, C1 was a pretty good base for images, and I understand moving to it and cutting ties with Adobe (I like Adobe's software, just don't like the company too much anymore).

BTW - I always hated Adobe's "you have to pay for a new version if you buy a new camera" routine. Talk about pirates.... I guess that's gone now, but they still get you.....

damn, son. What a deal!. I paid $200 for a 970+. I use it on my predator laptop. Works great! It didn't come with a heatsink though, but my laptop already had a thermal pad on both M.2 slots.

I did this, registering multiple Samsung SSD's a couple months ago while this promo was still live. Verified they were eligible, never got my Adobe Cloud subscription code. No response from Samsung either. Not a huge deal, but if you're counting on that extra $20 benefit, it might not happen.

--

WIth that said -- how well do these work as externals? What types of speeds are possible over USB-C? And is there a recommended external case for them?? This price is crazy and half of what I paid for mine (2 of them!) a couple months ago

Via USB? Not rly worth it.

Get a cheaper SATA or PCIE3 drive if you are putting it in an external, I'd say. Even thunderbolt I think. (I think PCEI3 drives are more than enough to saturate even Thunderbolt, iirc)

Recent Samsung SSDs have issues with SQL Server installation. Is there anyone here who can confirm if SQL Server can be installed on 980 series?

This is overpriced. Teamgroup and Pny 2TB SSDs are $60. A performance SSD like this should be a couple of bucks more not 2X the price. Samsung is at it again continuing to happily rip people off.
