The Dark Matter for sure. Anyone saying the LG is just saying so because they're a more well known brand and haven't seen both monitors. The Monoprice is far superior for gaming. This LG has really bad ghosting, while the Samsung panel in the Dark Matter is one of the better VA panels that mitigate ghosting/smearing. The Dark Matter also gets brighter, has a higher contrast ratio, better color, and much better response times. The Monoprice has a Quantum Dot Samsung panel, while this LG has a lower end panel. People forget that every manufacturer makes bottom of the barrel panels, top of the line panels, and everything in between. This is one of LG's low end VA panels. It's still a good price for what it is, but I'd swing for the Dark Matter if you can afford to spend the extra $60.
I concur, there's a reason this one is 50 less than the ultragear model with similar specs https://www.amazon.com/LG-UltraGe...137&sr=1-5

Hello, friends. I'm looking to replace my 27" home office monitor. I primarily use spreadsheets, log into a VM and minimal graphic work in Illustrator (not enough to sway my decision to a higher end monitor). I do not use it for gaming. I know a lot of these monitors are gamer oriented and probably way overpowered for what I need it for.

I'm looking at this LG and the Ultragear one that's $50 more.

For my use, will this one serve my needs? I use an M1 Mac Mini. I don't mind spending the extra $50 for the Ultragear if it's better quality in terms of craftsmanship.

Thanks for you input.

TL,DR. I want to replace my 27" office monitor. It will only ever be used for typical finance/wfh office things. No gaming. Will this suffice? Is there a benefit of the $50 more Ultragear that could benefit my use case?

Thanks!

This will do it. No need to stretch extra $50, save $50 and update in couple years

Check your carts folks, missed the boat on this one but I had it in my cart from 12 am but did not commit .. it got mvoed to save for later and showed that the price had increased. just checked and a few came back in stock and it let me order for the $200. No mention of that price on the product page, but I just ordered it somehow. GL to anyone in my same situation.

Edit, showing a few left in stock @200, go quick!
