Ha. I wonder why... is there a good reason to do that? I don't think this counts as a security feature because no burglars is going to try to make a key to get in then get discouraged finding out it uses a non-standard key stock.

It's extremely easy to bypass, just needs a wave rake, so it's very odd that they seemed to go out of their way to say f u to the customer for no discernible benefit

My family and I love our Eufy lock. I read the comments about making duplicate keys, but they include several duplicates in the box. I have the bluetooth and fingerprint version, which essentially makes keys obsolete. I have yet to use any of the included keys.

I went with the bluetooth version bc I read that the wifi version drains the batteries faster. Last thing I want to worry about is having to constantly change the batteries on my stupid door lock. I also didn't feel like signing up for yet another cloud service that are stored in servers in who-knows-where.

I have the Bluetooth version with the fingerprint. It has been working for about 4 months now and I am very happy with it. It was mentioned in the posts earlier to go with that rather than wifi for battery life.
It was pretty easy to install and set up codes/fingerprints.
Also, it came with 5 keys so anyone worried about duplicate keys and it being had to get.....well....since you shouldn't have to use them too often I think you should be able to keep one around without worrying about running out.

I have the WIFI version and its nice to check that its actually locked, and you get notified if the lock had any issues like with the auto lock feature gets stuck because the door wasn't all the way closed. But yeah the app has gotten annoying this past year, keeps asking me for permission to see my photos and videos, i always decline because I don't have any of their cameras so it doesn't need that access.

These locks are rather poorly made. The deadbolt constantly has issues locking and unlocking, the fingerprint reader is very finicky, and the finish is melting off the front of one of mine because the sun hits it for 3 hrs / day. I'd highly recommend buying a smart lock from a reputable lock manufacturer (Schlage, etc)
