The pricing keep falling, and I doubt this is the bottom just yet. We've seen it before, folks. What we're witnessing right now is called a deflationary spiral, which means that manufacturers, being under the pressure of not being able to meet their sales expectation, keep cutting their prices more and more. This often happens post inflation and causes a lot of distress to the markets. Financial markets usually get hit the most.

The only solution to drive this market even further down is to hold the mf line. I refuse to buy the garbage rtx 4080 for $1200 + tax, but I will gladly accept the offer for $500.

Embrace your current system for a bit longer and you will see how these companies will bend over backwards to sell you their stuff for pennies.

I got the 1TB 870 for $70 a year ago and thought it was a good deal. A year later I had yet to use it at all, I just don't want to spend the time building a new computer LMAO

Not sure what you're talking about. Clonezilla is free and I've used it to clone bootable drives for years.

Used it to clone my 64GB steam deck ssd to a 2tb. Didn't pay.

Edit: forgot I actually used rescuezilla which is just clonezilla with a gui. Functionality is the same

Any suggestions on the heatsink of the PC(not the laptop)? Mine is averaging 70C with picking at 89C.
Any cheap aluminum heatsink should work fine but you do need direct airflow over it for best results. Copper conducts heat 2x faster than aluminum so if you can find a copper heatsink with cooling fins that's the most effective type you can get. I bought 2 cheap $6 and $8 aluminum low profile ones from Ebay and they work fine for cooling my 2TB Corsair P5 Gen4 drives about 10 degrees with a fan blowing over it, or 5 degrees with no direct airflow over it. I also made a copper heatsink out of a 1.2mm thick copper sheet which curves around both sides of the drive to cool all the chiplets and it uses a thermal pad to sink heat directly into my aluminum case (which is only 0.5mm away from the top of the NVME drive) so that cooling design drops my drive temp by over 20 degrees and is totally passive so it doesn't need a fan on it like finned heatsinks do. It was easy to make, I just used a Dremel to cut a sheet of copper, then bent the sheet in half 180 degrees around a metal rod that was slightly thicker than my NVME drive, then put the drive in the copper sandwich using thermal pads on both sides to hold it in there with just friction, used a couple silicone bands to hold it in place even if the pads lose friction over time, and added 1 more 0.5mm thermal pad on the outside of the copper sandwich so it would touch my aluminum case panel and sink the heat over the entire side of my case panel which disapates the heat much better and totally passively compared to a little finned heatsink which requires airflow to work well.

Make sure your SSD slot wherever you are installing it has a screw that will secure the SSD. I had to poach one from my PS5 SSD slot because my laptop didn't have a SSD screw. I was installing my SSD into my razer blade 18.

I need M2 storage for my camera server which does high read/write counts. Anyone recommend a slickdeal that has a high TBW warranty? (total bytes written). 1TB or 2TB as long as good brand and a slickdeal. Thank you

Need something to upgrade from my 500gb on my MSI laptop. It's my primary and I game on it a little (it would be nice to have more space to install more games though) but mostly just use it for browsing, some audio recording/DAW stuff and dumping pics & vids from the camera. Would this specific 2tb drive be fine? I know there's the 980 and 990 or whatever

Ordered this from Amazon along with an external enclosure for it to clone my 256GB OS drive as I only have 1 m2 slot and am limited to Gen3 with my Ryzen 5700G processor. I received a 500 GB 870 Evo new in box with a 970 Evo Plus 2TB label on the back of the box. Amazon did send me the correct one but that was a pretty crazy delivery. Used Samsung Magician Migration Tool and was done with the cloning in 10 minutes. So far so good.
