It also has Starfield Premium Edition (normally $100) bundled with it.

You guys think this plus the 7950x3d would get a consistent 4k/60fps on stargield?

Really hard to say before it comes out. I would guess that you won't be able to max out the settings at 4K with that setup and never see the frame rate drop below 60fps. But if you're willing to compromise a tiny bit on settings, I think it's safe to say that the 6950 XT will play Starfield with a good frame rate at 4K.

I realize it's kind of a guessing game right now but what do you think about the 7900xt? Or the rtx 4080? I haven't been into pc gaming in about 5 years so I'm not up to date and mainly building just for starfield so I really don't need overkill. Thanks for the input and repped

This is a great deal. Most likely the bottom for the 6950 XT before inventory is gone.

You've got a better chance with the 7900XT and you can probably be pretty confident that the RTX 4080 will do 4K@60fps without too much trouble.

If you can wait a week after launch to play it, I would just look at reviews and benchmarks that come out when the game launches. You'll pay $500 more for a RTX 4080, so it's probably worth waiting a week to see.

I'm in kind of a similar boat myself. My aging RX 580 won't do great with Starfield and I know it. I have a Series X that will play it well, but I prefer PC for this kind of game. I'm not sure whether it'll push me to upgrade, but I'll wait until it comes out to see how it runs on my PC. I'm pretty patient with new releases and if I wasn't getting it through Game Pass, I would probably be waiting 1-2 years to play it anyhow.

We've seen better prices for this exact card before. This price seems to be available roughly once a month or so. Just search SlickDeals for 6950xt.

You need more than 8 cores? If not, 7700/X is quite strong and of course the 7800X3D.

Repped for the reply. I want a current generation x3d processor and the Microcenter deal makes it a good choice I feel.

Yeah I gor the XSX too but the 30fps is kind of a turnoff. I know the rtx 4080 will do but I feel like that might be overkill. Thanks again for the reply

I should also mention that the 7950X3D is probably not the best choice. The 7800X3D is probably the better choice for a pure gaming setup. You're paying more for the 7950X3D and not really getting much more. It actually underperforms the 7800X3D in some cases.

Honestly, you could go even cheaper on the processor (e.g. 7700X) if you're sure you're going 4K. There's a reason that CPU reviews only run gaming benchmarks at 1080p (or mayb 2560x1440). The CPU can act as a bottleneck for fps, but the graphics card is almost always the real bottleneck at 4K.

Bethesda games can be notoriously cpu bottlenecked, especially when piling on mods. The scripting in particular should benefit from X3D.

...But also you are correct, even a 7700X is probably overkill. A 7800x3D is OCD overkil, but the 7950x3d is just not useful in SF at all.

Technically this is speculation, but Bethesda never changes. They say they will change the engine for every single release, but Starfield at its core is going to be a patched up Morrowind just like every BGS game before it.
