Price performance on the A is exceptional for a lot of use cases. If you game on a modern platform it's junk, yes, with the 60hz panel and lack of HDMI 2.1 and VRR. If you're throwing it into a bedroom as a mid-size TV used mostly at night for streaming it's a value beast.
You guys are acting like this is a crappy lcd. It's still an Oled that blows almost any tv out of the water. As for gaming on a 60hz display, you do know Starfield comes out next month and runs at 30fps? There are not a whole lot of games running above 60 on either consoles.
Junk is a pretty solid exaggeration.

Refresh Rate is only 60 Hz. If all you watch is streaming and OTA stuff, it's totally fine and will obviously still have great picture quality, much better than most any LCDs at this price point.

Tradeoff is features. If those features are not useful to you, then save a few bucks. Otherwise, step up to the C2 for 30% more cost and you get them.

Why is it junk for gaming? The LG A2 Oless gets a green light and 8.6 for video games on RTings.

60 hz might not be good for competitive fps shooters where you want 100+ fps, but 60 hz seems fine for other video games.

48" is too small. They should have 65" for this price in 2023.
Easy fix. Just sit one foot away from the TV. It will seem like you're in an IMAX theater!

Junk is hyperbole, but VRR and HDMI 2.1 make a big difference with PS5, Series X, and remotely modern PC GPU's. Some games, like Rift Apart, have implemented awesome 40FPS modes that require 120hz panels, too. I was being tongue in cheek in response to someone who'd suggested the A's are hot garbage, which they absolutely are not.

Edit: eARC is also really nice to have if you're gaming and have surround sound.

Agreed! You'll notice the difference of 120 on fast paced competitive games like rocket league. Otherwise most new games are 60z.

For the few that are, it's worth it for gamers to get a 120 OLED tv.

Great price for an OLED. Note It's not great in direct sunlight.

Open box for under $400 would be a perfect replacement for two 32 inch monitors for the home office, but, alas, none in my area.

I agree but I suspect it is not available anywhere, I would be really surprised if anyone returned this TV given how good the picture is for normal people. And fancy people know in advance they won't get 120Hz or what not.

You are overestimating the amount of research people actually do. Most people buy TVs because they like the picture on the in-store display, despite the fact they'll never replicate it at home and some absolutely will return even the best TV if their unrealistic expectations aren't met. Speaking of which, an open-box could just as easily be that display unit. But yeah, few will find one.

I have the LG 48 A1. It's the perfect size for the bedroom. My Sonos Beam fits perfectly between the legs.

Hey All, quick question for all you gurus out there on TVs vs. Monitors. Will these LG OLED TVs work (good) as monitors for your PC? I know many years ago, if you tried this it would offer a lot of "lag" with the mouse and movement on the screen. Wanted to see if the technology has changed and if its possible now. I know this is crazy but I recently purchased the LG 48GQ900-B monitor from CostCo and I hate it as I mostly do office work and no gaming, but I wanted a bigger display. I know you must be thinking Im crazy to be asking if the OLED TV is better, well I just might be. lol The new monitor I just got is horrible with text and fonts, the dimming feature is so highly annoying, etc.

Sorry for the long message, and please be gentle in your replies... Wink

can't you just buy a universal stand that will attach to the VESA mount?
I just figured it would be a headache knowing which ones would work. I am kind of getting used to the sony too, butt wow what a ridiculous price. i got the best buy my best buy plus or w/e it's called where I have 60 days to price match it. But I'm sure it will never go under $1k. I wish I knew for sure how the lgs are. I had the very first lg oled and didn't like it much. And someone on youtube claims some consoles, such as nintendo switch, look much better on the sony. But the sony seems harder to calibrate properly.

There's one near me that's "fair". idk how bad that is. Missing remote? Scratched screen? I might take a ride. They said no warranty but you can get the geek squad coverage that seems reasonably priced ($79/5years) - but idk if that's a bunch of BS or a trustable warranty.

The framerate isn't the only negative on this for gaming. You're forgetting about VRR, which reduces or eliminates choppiness and screen tearing if you're playing a game that has an inconsistent framerate; as long as the game supports VRR and doesn't fall below 48fps. It has been very useful to me on a number of games. Not to mention that the C2 is noticeably brighter. This isn't "junk" for gaming, but if you're buying a TV to play one of the newer consoles on, you're not getting everything that the console is capable of. So, for people who are really into gaming, this is a bad choice. If you just passively play from time to time, then it's no big deal.

I thought almost all modern games have hardware side technologies to prevent screen tearing so it doesn't matter even if the display doesn't have VRR?

For example, PC games have had vertical sync for like 2 decades. If we are just hooking a gaming computer/laptop directly to the TV then all games would be able to use V-sync.

Do the newer consoles not have vertical sync?
